Four of us took a half day - 2 winery - tour in Verona in June 2022. We have been on many wine tours and two of my friends are from Northern California so very used to touring wineries. We all loved this tour. Went to one very small, family winery with a cellar from the 15th Century and one larger more commercial winery. Both were excellent, learned a lot about the Valpolicella wine, had wonderful wine tasting snacks and enjoyed tasting a good variety of wine. Very generous amount of wine and we even bought a bottle and opened it to enjoy it at one of the wineries. Guide was knowledgeable and relaxed. Highly recommend Pagus tours. (PS we booked it directly when it showed as unavailable on the travel sites.)

Wonderful day with our guide Anna who was fabulous. Picked directly at our hotel in Verona and driven to two very different wineries where we learned loads about how wine is produced in Valpolicella which was our goal. We also had a nice lunch with Anna who was very patient as we peppered her with questions all day. Highly recommend!

Half day Soave tour - excellent!!
We were a party of 6 and had a minibus driven by our excellent guide Anna. Lovely tour of Soave castle and then a visit to the Tessari family vineyard where 4th generation family member Nick gave us an excellent tour and fabulous tasting of all their wines with lovely accompanying salami and cheeses.
A wonderful trip. Highly recommend.

My travel partner and I were looking for a tour to visit the wineries in the Valpollicella province, and to have a taste and learn about Amarone wines. We picked Pagus because it looked the most well organised based on its website, as well as the many stellar reviews on tripadvisor. To our greatest disappointment and frustration, the 70 euros which we paid for an afternoon 4-hour tour of the Valpollicella Region was a complete was of our money and limited time in Verona.

We took the "Olive oil and wine" tour. When we got to Redoro Olive Oil, the lady in charge of showing us around could only speak Italian so supposedly our guide who we paid for and representing Pagus would translate for us.

However, not only did he barely translate (for every 10 sentences she would say, he would make 1 passing comment in English), at times I even had to probe him and ask for a translation before I could understand the tour. It was horrific. I did not pay 70 euros to have to decipher Italian for myself. It was clearly stated to be an English tour. The only conciliation was that my travel partner and I did enjoy the olive oil tasting that we were served. But I would like to emphasize that this is no where near worth what we paid for in terms of the quality of service we were expecting.

We were then taken to the wineries to taste Amarone wines, the Fratelli Vogadori Winery. The wine tour was brief (only took about 10 mins of explaining), and the representative of Fratelli Vogadori, though informative, did not give his attention to us alone as he had other visitors to serve. The wines we were given to taste were lovely, but again, it was completely inadequately informative. We did not have one-on-one time with the representative to learn of the wines and its history or culture. What is MOST horrifying is that we later realised that Fratelli Vogadori conducts free tours, all you need to do is just make a booking. Check the link below:
http://www.amaronevalpolicella.org/vogadori-family/valpolicella-winery-visit

All in all, please DO NOT waste your time on this tour company and any of its tours.

Dear Rachel, thank you very much for your review...i hope many people could read your review and my answer to understand how the people could be totally different in soul and sincerity. Hope no one cuold take your words for real, avoiding a great experienxe on our land, but i am not afraid of that, cause i believe more in our beautiful reviews and mails i receive everytime by our new friends! So i call all these friends of mine to defend our great reputation! Sincerly i don't understand this aggressiveness with us. The time of the tour says 4 hours, we respected the program also cause with more people we have to be in time respecting the needs of everybody. Sure was difficoult to have a double language that day having some italians, but should we avoid the italians? I remember pefectly the day! The lady in the frantoio was absolutely polite with everybody cooking more times bruschette and oil for you (don't think is a fault not to speak english, people have to be considered for something more than a language and maybe she herself was afraid for that). I remember also, while i was listening to her to translate to you, you were overriding me with other questions, so i sure loose some of your questions! Sorry i was not a robot but a simple human being. About Alberto in the winery he made the best in a crowd day,,,sorry but sometimes can happen. Just i remember you that i sat down near you in the frantoio and in the winery as well to be totally at your disposal but maybe you didn't care or see. About free wine tasting i am sure that i pay every single wine tasting for my customers, nothing free for us (didn't know?), so what you suspect is just a pure insinuation... i was thinking to write to Tripadvisor against this offence to my company, but i prefer to keep this review to remember how sometimes people are looking for the worse part of the world. For sure i am sorry about your disappoiment and i recognize that something sometimes is not perfect, totally different is to represent us in an insulting and gratouitos way just considering people against you, that absolutely is not real! Sincerly, Alessandro Conato.

We found the tour a little bit improvised, the first cellar was great, but the second was one of the bigest and because of that, it was very crowded, we couldn´t visit it, and they offered us to visit another one, but it wasn´t a pretty one, part of the decision of taking a wine tour is for the beauty of the place.
We felt there was a lack of information about the wines we were tasting, also our driver was drinking wine, wich is not the expected behavior.
On the positive side, our guide was very friendly, and so was the driver, the scenary was beautiful (except on the 3th cellar), all together we had a good time, its a nice way of spending the afternoon in Verona.

Thank you for your review , we answer just now to point out a few things. We regret that you were not 100% happy with our tour . Maybe we were not very experienced with the management of the times, but I assure you that at that time we already knew perfectly products and traditions of our territory. That's the reason why we've opened PAGUS! With the hope that you will participate to one of our tours today to help you change your mind about us we wish you a good day. Pagus team

First, let me be clear that our tour guide, Lara, was excellent. She was polite, charming and informative and had superb knowledge about the area. This was our second Pagus Tour and we were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, Pagus did not inform us that the other couple on the tour were winemakers from Australia. While they were friendly people they dominated the entire tour with complex wine industry questions. My wife and I wanted a friendly tour to learn about wine and meet and talk with some of the local family-owned wineries. Instead, the local winemakers, quite frankly, seemed a little bit befuddled by the questions being thrown at them, while my wife and I just got bored and annoyed. We definitely did not feel our tour (Soave Tour) was a good value for the money we paid.

Hello!! (This is Lara) First of all thank you for the nice words about me, I'm glad to have shared with you some of my passion and some interesting information about the areas we visited. I remember very well the tour you did and regarding your criticism: obviously we accept it, it will certainly help us to grow and improve our work and our proposals. But, please, let me make a point: Pagus does not know the profession of its customers, it is not a relevant information for our tours. We try to do our best always, regardless the career of our customers. As tour leader, I can tell you that one of the most beautiful and exciting sides of this job is that I never know who I will have in front of me at the pick up point, I very often don't know the provenience of my customers before meeting them and I never know their profession. I sometimes discover it during the tour, as happened that day. Personally, I would have preferred you convey to me directly your disappointment during the tour, I would have tried to do as much as possible to remedy and let you feel more comfortable. Discovering your disappointment now and on TripAdvisor, I lost an occasion to do my best during the tour!! Anyway, if you will come back to Verona, I'd like to see you again at our pick up point for enjoying another wine tour with us ... this next time without wine producers maybe, but ... who knows?! ;-) Thank you again and see you next time! Ciao, Lara (and Pagus Wine Tour Staff)

We were spending our second week in Europe in the Valpolicella region, and we knew a wine tour was high on our list of priorities.

After internet searches and inquiries at our hotel failed to come up with any suggestions, we stumbled upon Pagus tours on Trip Advisor, and decided to email them. I received a response back almost immediately, and a tour was booked 48 hours later.

It exceeded our expectations. We accompanied another pair on a personal tour to two very different, but very good, wineries in the Valpolicella region. The first winery was Allegrini - one of the largest in the region, and the second was Corte Archi, a smaller, family-run winery. We enjoyed both, but especially Corte Archi, where the passion and love for wine and wine-making was clear. We purchased wine at both wineries, and look forward to enjoying it when we get home!

Thank you Davide (and dad!) for the memorable tour. It was extremely obvious that a lot of care and thought went into the selection of winery destinations on this tour, and it did not disappoint. They even went as far as to take us to some great lookouts over the region (great picture opportunities!)

We enjoyed everything. We have recommended Pagus to our hotel, should anyone after us inquire about tours. If you aren't sure how to navigate on your own, definitely check out Pagus if you are in the Verona/Valpolicella region!

It was a great half-day wine tour to the Valpolicella valley. Our guide Laura was fantastic. She impressed us with her extensive knowledge about the region and all aspects of wines. On a way to a vinery we stopped by to see an old church, and Laura told us about its history. Also there was a breath-taking view to the whole valley. At the family-run vinery the owner guided us through all the steps of wine making process, and at the end we tasted all of four types of wine they produce. We spent a fantastic time with really great and passionate people. Highly recommend!

We were booked on the to Soave and Amarone tour. It was a miserable rainy day so we were happy to be going to do some Wine tasting. The tour didn't start off great as we had to wait 30 minutes for a couple. The rest of us weren't very happy about this as we didn't want it to cut our day short. Anyway they arrived in the end and we headed out to Soave for our first tasting. Coffele was our first stop. We tried some sparkling, red and white wines. We had some cheese, meat and bread to accompany the wine. It was all very marvellous. Sofia then went to get the minibus as it was still raining. We all bought some wine which was a great price. Always cheaper to buy at the vineyard. Then went to Fasoli Gino vineyard to taste some more wine. We were shown round and then the tasting began. This vineyard do very interesting wines. They mix grapes to make some exciting combinations. Again we had meat, cheese and bread to soak up the wine. I did enjoy finding out the processes of the wine making. I also liked that both vineyards are organic. Again we all bought some lovely wine and then were taken to a restaurant for our lunch. We had 2 different red wines with our meal. Both were fantastic. We had a couple of pasta dishes to share and then we had beef with vegetables. The food was outstanding. We had dessert and then coffee. By this point I was so full I couldn't eat or drink another thing. Sofia then drove us back to the meeting point. Sofia was fantastic and is a credit to the company for sure. The other people on the tour were also really nice and everyone was from different places so it was great to chat. I would recommend booking a tour with Pagus for sure.

What a review, thank you so much!!! I remember perfectly that day... Sorry again for the hitch: we usually wait only for 10 mn if our guests are late, but that morning they told us they were on their way to arrive to Verona. Despite the beginning it turned out to be a great tour! The group was super funny and I was more than happy to share with you that great lunch instead of having my usual sad-salad! It's really impossible not to enjoy the day with all that superb wine and food but your company really made the difference... thank you! I really hope to see you again, take care Sofia Zanotti Pagus Wine Tours

We had booked the Lake Garda lunch and Amarone wine tour before we travelled to Verona as we wanted something unique to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. From the moment the mini bus arrived to pick us up and Sophia (our tour guide) informed us that there was only us on the tour we knew we had picked a winner!
Sophia was so knowledgeable about Verona, wine and everywhere we visited that we thoroughly enjoyed our day out. We visited 2 wineries one in morning and one after lunch. Both were different but we learned so much during our day. There was no pressure to purchase any wine but both vineyards had such wonderful wine that it would have been a shame not to!
The first winery (Benazzoli) was totally modern but still delightful and Claudia was a perfect host and we wish her and her sister well in their venture.
Lunch followed a pleasant amble around Bardolino's characterful streets, the restaurant that Sophia took us to was delightful and there was such a range of local and international dishes that it was difficult to decide what to have. Everything was of the highest quality with impeccable service. Our new found knowledge of wine helped us choose the perfect accompaniment to our dishes.
We then visited our 2nd winery (Coali) in the hills above Lake Garda and this was a truly traditional one but still enjoyable with fantastic wines and wonderful views.
Sophia was the ultimate guide and at the end of our day we were quite sad to leave her as we had enjoyed her company so much - Thank You Sophia, we wish you well in all you do.
I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to either novice or expert as it was "Perfecto!"
