Booked 4 daily passes online to avoid standing in line. The online ticket was not valid! Had to pay for a bus to Mestre train station. At Mestre train station, to validate online ticket, the only option was standing in an hour long line!
We drove from Jesolo to Venice with the boat and it was all fine but when we tried to get back we got told by 4 different staff members to take different boats, we drove 2 hours for nothing and a lady at the info...More
First of all, the boats are a great way to get around in Venice or between the center and other islands like Murano, Burano, Lido di Jesolo,... we bought two 48 hour tickets at 1pm on Tuesday. As we wanted to hop on a boat...More
Best way to see Venice is from the water bus on a night trip down the Grand Canal.
It is €7 per person for a single ticket. We bought our ticket at the Rialto bridge but then walked to St Mark's Square to get on...More
Is the best way to see Venice from the sea, a must! Tragetto or other private co. have less coverage! And more expansive. For 20Euro/day you can use many boat lines between the islands, inside Venice, and local buses inland (Mestre area). As other says,...More
The bus arrived as soon as we got to P. Roma. It was clean, fast (20-25 minutes) and included in our 48-hour tourist ACTV tickets. Not a huge amount of space for large suitcases etc. but we only had carry-on luggage. We were dropped right...More
We have booked our ACTV transportation online, on the VeneziaUnica website, as a part of the VeneziaUnica Platinum City Pass. It gave us the opportunity to use the ACTV vaporettoes for seven days unlimited, plus a return bus ticket from/to the Marco Polo Airport.

Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
