About
Fallani Venezia is an artisanal screen print studio working since 1968 in the heart of Venice. It prints high-quality serigraphies, providing its own technical skills and its own sensibility, in order to interpret and transform into screen print artistic expressions of painters, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, street artists, graphic designers. Gianpaolo Fallani that is (currently) running the Studio has inherited the passion for this technique from his father Fiorenzo, that has been collaborating with more than 200 artists from all over the world for whom he realized more than 1000 editions. The Studio keeps on printing on commission, by proposing also workshops and residencies that invite the artists to know and experiment the versatility and the potential of this printing technique.

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

We did the 1 hour silk screening with our kids. Margarhita and John (that's what our kids called him) were wonderful. Both were very patient and gentle with our kids. They gave us lots of attention and explained things clearly. It was fun and we all got a nice shirt/bag and print. Thank you!

I had read about this place in my research of things to do while in Venice.
Luckily it was close to our apartment and we were able to visit and arrange a 1 hour introductory chat and print experience.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Our guide was lovely, very informative and skilled and extremely patient. We came away with our own print, a unique memory and momento of our holiday.
40 euros each for the 1 hour class but you can just visit for free.

Spent a full day doing a screen printing workshop at this delightful studio. Led by a master printmaker I experienced Venice in a different way and came away with a edition of personal prints. The vast range of original works in the retail area is inspiring and real mementos of Venice. Highly recommended for beginners and established artists.

We were very excited to visit this gallery. And the art within was indeed very cool.
However, the employee could not have been more rude or less interested in helping us. Upon arrival, the door was barely cracked and the lights were out. (It was past the opening hour.). We were let in with a grunt, and proceeded back into the studio. Wishing to purchase something, we had to get his attention. He seemed irritated we were purchasing something. We attempted to ask questions about another piece in which we were interested and he just kind of grunted. We like the art, but it didn’t feel good to purchase something from someone so thoroughly unpleasant. In trying to be a good tourist—e.g., purchasing from locals, interacting with locals, etc.—we were basically shown the door.
I’d go to see the art and support the artists, but I hope you encounter an employee more interested in actually helping you or selling something. It was really quite something—definitely the rudest person we encountered across a really lovely time in Italy.

Nice, technical talk with a professional screen printer. I would really recommend this for someone who would like to know the processes in printing art , and all the know-how that's needed for a perfect expression

We were in Venice with extended family (grand-parents, in-laws, kids) for a five day reunion. I was looking to something different to do than eat and visit sites. Fallani Venezia was perfect. It's in a beautiful area that one would otherwise probably miss. The printing course was just the right duration for our group (kids and grand-parents). The self made prints are a beautiful souvenir of our trip. Highly recommended, particularly if you're in Venice for more than just a day or two.

My aunt, 11 year old daughter and I took the workshop and really enjoyed the afternoon. The studio setting is beautiful, Gianpaolo was great and we left with a solid understanding of printmaking and LOVELY souvenirs. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a more "hands on" experience for their vacation! Thanks Gianpaolo!

It was so great for my wife and I to discover Gianpaolo's workshop, have a hands-on experience, and hear about the history of how he and his father have done the screen printing of some of the great modern Italian artists. A great, off-the-beaten-path experience to have in Venice!

We decided to get lost in Venice one morning and happened upon this beautiful print studio. After meeting Gianpaolo and chatting with him we immediately booked a 90 minute silk-screen printing workshop. It was great to hear the family story, see the beautiful art (Gianpaolo even dragged some out of the back to show us a 52 colour screen print) and learn all the steps it takes to create these beautiful works. We now have a beautiful print to frame as a reminder of this fun experience! A creative, interactive experience in Venice. Thank you, Gianpaolo, next time I'm coming for 4 hours!
