While visiting Venice last January my best friend and I found this tour online and thought it would be a great way to start our visit. To begin, setting up the tour was very easy and the staff members were very helpful in making sure we understood the in's and out's of the tour. Not only was our expert guide extremely knowledgable, he was also very passionate about the food, wines and different delicacies.
Our guide also took us to several historic sites sharing a wealth of information, with lots of interesting details.
The evening walking food tour proved to be a Great Finale to a wonderful experience.
This tour certainly delivered, and we highly recommend it.
Reasonably priced and it was worth it!

Had the pleasure of attending the Rialto food tour on 5th feb! Cannot praise this tour highly enough, our guide was brilliant, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! We were taken to some amazing places and served beautiful food and wine, it was more like visiting Rialto with a group of friends rather than a guided tour. This tour is well worth the money, I would highly recommend.

I recently traveled to Venice with friends and was recommended this tour by a Roman friend. I'm a pretty picky eater and hate ending up in places where everyone speaks English. This was really perfect - I felt like a local. We definitely wouldn't have found these places on our own. Every stop was so good!

For anybody thinking about taking this tour I would advise you not to believe the hype on their website or tour information.
Our guide was very nice, enthusiastic and informative. No problem there at all. We enjoyed the historical aspect of the tour. It is advertised as a food and wine tour and at 85 euros per person I had high expectations of sampling some of the best local food and wine that venice has to offer. We were very disappointed with the food served on the tour. The selection of starters at the first restaurant were pretty basic and nothing to write home about. The white wine was very sweet and pretty unpalatable. Moving on to the next place we were served 3 very basic bubbles. A small piece of bread with a different topping with a small glass of wine. The next was a visit to a local bakery. The guide went in and came back with a bag of local Jewish biscuits which we had one each out in the square as she told us more history. Another wine bar followed with 2 small pieces of bread with a topping washed down with a glass of proseco, beer or wine. Again small glasses were the order of the day.
Then on to another restaurant for home made pasta. 2 different pasta dishes were put on the table for sharing. These were heavy, unappealing and probably the poorest pasta I have ever eaten in Italy.
The ice cream at the end was for me the best food on the tour!
At each restaurant / bar there was no offer of another glass of wine and only at the pasta stop was anybody offered more pasta. This was not a new dish just finishing the pasta left on the table. I don't think anybody took up the order.
The sales pitch said come hungry. I am very pleased I was not starving as the portions on offer were not large and were actually counted out. In total I had 1 bottle of beer and about 1/3 bottle of wine.
I reckon the food I ate would have cost about 10 euros max to make. To ask 85 euros per person for such mediocre food and small amount of wine is, without doubt, far in excess of what this tour is worth, despite our guide being very informative about the history of the area.
My advice would be to take your 85 euros to one of the many good restaurants around venice and have a proper meal.

Be you a food lover, a wine lover or just someone who wants to get to know Venice and its culture and history this tour is perfect. We had the most brilliant time with Max P. super knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and lovely. We stopped at 7 different spots, off the beaten track, everything was included, no 'hidden' fees or optional extras. We tried local special dishes and things I'd not be brave enough to try on my own (which turned out to be the best things!) cheese, wine, charcuterie, chicetti, seafood, pastries and baked goods. No need for breakfast or dinner before or afterwards the food and wine were so plentiful (although I'd advise against the Grappa!). Max added little anecdotes and historical and cultural facts along to way. Absolutely perfect from start to finish, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Of all the tours that ran this one seemed the most genuine, authentic and best value for money in terms of tour length, inclusions and tour guides!

This trip was great fun and really good value! Allessandra was an amazing hostess, who is very knowledgable and was great at telling us about the history of Venice and the places we stopped At. She met us at Rialto and we had, not 4, not 5 but SIX stops for food and/or wine along the way! I didn’t want it to end.

This is the best food tour I have done, the value is amazing for the amount of stops you have and how much time the host spend with you (especially in Venice!)

I’d happily do this tour again as the places change depending upon the weather and size of group.

Don't go just for the food. The tour starts with a fascinating history of the Jewish Ghetto in Venice, an area tourists rarely go. The tour contains several stops at local bars for tastes of wine and appetizers. But it is not just snacking. You go to a restaurant for a sit down dinner. The tours are kept relatively small, so there is plenty of time to ask questions of the guide and get to know your fellow diners. Our guide was a former teacher and was very enthusiastic and informative. Dinner is followed by gelato of your choice at a gelateria. When you consider the value of the meal, the tour is very reasonably priced. Any inquiries I made were answered quickly be email.

I have very mixed feelings about this food tour. We have been on others and have a base to compare this one to. Our guide, Donata, was very pleasant and certainly knew about the food she was talking about. And the food was very good! There were times we felt she was racing off ahead and not really conversing with us, but I guess she had a schedule to keep. We have found previously on other tours, cities that are large and small, that the vendors greeted us as if they would like to see us again. Here we felt as if we were occupying space we shouldn't be.
We were sent an email later to give any opinions or feedback and we did, but my feeling was that my opinions were not really wanted or misinterpreted. I had suggested a map (to make returning easy) and perhaps a listing of the possible foods we may be eating so that we could circle the ones we had for future reference but apparently the foods are always different, never the same. They prefer to "explain the food and, also, Venice is different from other cities"....but then again, these other places with food tours would say they are different from Venice but can do these helpful additions.
The bottom line...the food was very good or I would only give this an average score.

I did this tour with my boyfriend and my parents. We were a group of 4 and were the only people on the tour. First for the good points; there was a huge amount of food and wine on this tour. We finished the tour full to busting and a little tipsy! When we did the research on which food tour to book we got the impression that this one would provide a plentiful amount and we were not disappointed. The reason why I have only given this tour a 3 out of 5 is because I didn't feel like I learned much about the food or the places which we were eating in. I did ask our guide about the restaurants we were eating in, who owned them, what was the history, why they were chosen for the tour but she didn't know. I also asked about how some of the food was prepared and didn't feel like I got much of answer about that either. I do a food tour on every holiday, I think they are the perfect way to learn about a country and its culture. Whilst we got to try LOTS of local foods I finished the tour thinking that I could have visited all of the places on my own (in fact we had already been to a couple of them prior to the tour) and without learning about the food preparation and the businesses themselves it didnt feel like what I would call a 'tour'. The other thing that let the tour down for me was the amount of walking involved. By the end of it 3 of the group were exhausted. We went in a very indirect route, going backwards and forwards between a couple of different areas. It would have been nice to do all of the restaurants in one area, and then go to the next rather than yo-yo-ing between them. If you are looking for a tour that provides copious amounts of food and wine then you have found it. If you are looking for a tour that really teaches you about the food, its preparation, and the local businesses this probably isnt it.

We had a most enjoyable evening with Anna. She took us to places only Venetians know about. The wines and food were very good. She had a lot of knowledge about the venues and the food and wine.
