We recently took the intro tour with Simona on my boyfriends birthday. We both learnt a lot on the tour including- history, food/drink recommendations (which we used a lot of) and got our bearings around the city. The only way this tour could be improved...More

Great free walking tour, took us off the beaten track and showed us some beautiful spots. Riccardo was a great tour guide, with a deep voice which was sometimes difficult to hear, but you can't blame him for that! Gave us the history of Venice...More

We always try to take a free walking tour where ever we travel. Again we weren't disappointed. We took the Blue tour which we found very helpful as an introduction to Venice. The meeting point was easy to locate, well as easy as Venice makes...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

We didn't have small children on our tour, but remember it's at least 2 hours in duration and hot.

As far as I know the tours are daytime. Ours started at around 5pm. Google free walking tours to see which tours are scheduled, at what time they start and where they meet. Maybe you can turn up and join it. Good luck.
