Informative and nice staff

A very unassuming entrance which we missed twice. Our Rick steves book allowed us into and up the lift, almost like a clandestine visit! We had a glass blowing demo all to... read more

Wow, what a wonderful experience and what a privilege to witness first hand the marvelous works that only masters can do. I was offered the opportunity to witness a glass master at work, and after all the other tourists had left I was offered to witness the master at work even closer than I had already been. It was a... We purchased items from this company and were very concerned, as the items are fragile. We were assured that they pack these items all the time and that they will guarantee the piece. It is obvious that the piece was broken when they packed the item for transport. It was broken when arrived!! They sent another piece that was not... More

I bought two wine glasses for $400 CAD to be shipped to canada. I received the glasses 6 weeks later and one glass was damaged. I sent pictures right away and never heard from them despite their guarantee that they would replace any defective product right away.. I sent numerous emails since then and no one ever bothered to even... More

Oh my, I have never watched a master of glass working, the exhibition of one of the few masters that Venice has (each master takes 15 years to graduate from another master) was so amazing that I felt like I was watching someone making a dream come true in a few minutes, felt like it was a piece of pie!... A very unassuming entrance which we missed twice. Our Rick steves book allowed us into and up the lift, almost like a clandestine visit! We had a glass blowing demo all to ourselves which the kids enjoyed. We had an English speaking staff showing and explains to us the glassware. At no time were they pushy like some sales people.... During our recent visit to Venice, we didn't have time to make the trip to Murano but were able to visit the Galleria San Marco. The description of how the glass was made and the demonstration of the glass blowing process were very well done. The showroom staff did an excellent job in showing the jewelry and made recommendations based... More

We read about the Galleria San Marco in the Rick Steves book and it was a great recommendation. When we walked in we had to tell them that we had the book and they let us in to see a glass blowing demonstration which was amazing. Then they have a sales person that takes you around to show you what... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
