The bar has a big selection of tostadas, mostly with fish and cheese, and prosecco for €2.50. Grab a few to go and eat them on the canal while you watch the boats go by. It's quiet, not overrun by tourists, and you can appreciate why people love to visit Venice. Really a highlight!…

The second and unexpected stop on our bar hop...we spotted this one across from the one we were Trying to go to. Slightly more expensive than the other bars around the area, but buzzing and full of life. We weren't sure if they did ombra ad it wasn't advertised, though it could be one of the places you need to ask...either way, the locals appeared to have been drinking something different to us! …

There aren't many places in the Accademia district, so this was a welcome find. It is also considerably cheaper than the equivalents across the bridge on the main island. It has everything you could want for a lunch, and the food is really good. It's also just that wee bit off the usual tourist trails so it is a proper Italian lunch place.…
