The actual cruise itself was great once we were on the boat, but the man at the ticket desk was beyond rude to my friends and I. We showed up to the ticket desk only a few minutes late, and he began yelling at us...More

The tour was excellent and the guide was really good, when we eventually got going. We were told to be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before hand. We arrived 30 minutes beforehand. Eventually someone appeared and it was all pretty chaotic with...More

After umming and aahhing over the cost mainly, we ended up getting 'up-sold' and paid $150 for around 45-50 mins. Opted for the quieter time at 7.00pm, when the light in Venice is wonderful as the sun begins to set. After not originally wanting to...More

With the square flooded, the meeting place was very chaotic. The guide was good but difficult to hear/understand (English tour). Definitely worth seeing, just not sure this was the best way.

Don't book this. Go there yourself and ask. St mark basillica tour is free and doge palace tour is 20 euros. I called the operator informing them that i would be late but the lady pretended like she didnt understand me. I told her that...More

Having read previous reviews of groups of 5 in each gondola and might not be sitting next to your partner- bored driver etc- we decided to have a look around and plump for one in a quieter part. Went on a walk and while at...More

I'm sure this is an excellent idea, but we didn't get to use it in the end, as, being only two-day visitors, we had all our clobber with us in backpacks. It's made quite clear that you can't take such bags into the church with...More

Dear 4Travelin, the best solution is to book your transfer before arriving at Venice airport. This will allow you to have assistance on the spot and to reduce the waiting times to reach Venice. The price varies according to... More

What kind of a site is this? (it was linked from St. Marks' Bascilica) Has anyone booked a tour at venetoinside.com? How was your experience? I am interested in one of their Venice walking tours and also the 3-island tour to Murano, Burano and Torcello. Thanks.

Don't know them but the general tours on the left some are pretty standard the 3 islands its done in all the lanuguages of people on the boat. Its good if you want a glimpse of the 3 islands and don't mind a bit of a sell at Murano. Usually you have to pay your own entrance in teh cathedral in Torcello as well.

Venice Pass = Skip The Line? (2 Replies)
Ciao! I have a question: If you buy the pass that covers the churches or the museums in Venice, does that mean you can 'skip the line'? Or does it just mean you can get it just like everyone else who paid, but you still have to line up? I have read and watched some guides how people waste lots of time lining up... instead of buying the 'skip the line' pass. I know there are so many types of passes, so here's an example: If I buy the VeneziaUnica Tourist City Pass (grants admission to...More

The sight in Venice that gets the biggest lines is St Mark's Basilica, and it is not included in any pass. There is sometimes a bit of a line for the Doge's Palace, but really there is nowhere else in Venice that gets a significant queue.

St. Marks Basilica and venetoinside.com (5 Replies)
Venetoinside.com offers a ticket to enter St. Marks Basilica, in a separate entrance, to avoid the lines. The cost for this ticket is two euro. My question is, is there a separate fee to tour the Basilica and Museum on your own? Of particular interest to me are the bronze horse statues and mosaics. Thank you for any help you can give.

The basilica is free and the museum which is upstairs and where the horses are located is €5, highly recommend! If you can try to schedule your visit when they turn on the lights, you can really see the mosaics shine! 11:30-12:30 everyday
