The area

Neighborhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

What an amazingly, brilliant concert in this beautiful church. The musicians are world renowned and are truly fantastic. To sit back and listen to Vivaldi played with such passion and precision was a real treat. It was such an inspiring concert that we bought tickets to go the next evening as well to watch a different set of pieces.
The ‘no mobile phone’ regulation also meant that there was no distraction from people browsing their phones through the concert. (Which can be very distracting)
Can highly recommend these concerts. The best in Venice by a long shot.

We attended a classical concert in this church a few years ago in summer - it was a bit hot. But, since it was october we knew we were not going to sweat. We are so glad we gave it another try. It was breathtaking. They played several Vivaldi pieces. Pieces that were familiar and moving. The cellist was a show by himself. He truly felt every note he played. The entire group was magnificent. We did not want it to end.

Beautiful church rebuilt in 17th century on a previous medieval church. The design was made by Andrea Tilari with clearly refers to the school of Palladio. Beautiful classic facade with marble statues and gigantic columns.
To note the two side are not for lateral internal naves but they hide two palaces, for this reason the internal is with only one nave.
The church is sconsacrate and used for concerts of classical music.
The lateral altars and the main altar are all with beautiful paintings designed by Sebastiano Ricci, Giovan Battista Piazzetta, Angeli Trevisan and Vittore Carpaccio. On the main altar you can see two marble statues by Antonio Gay.

The Chiesa di San Vidal is a beautiful former church a spit from the Accademia Bridge. Home to the Interpreti Veneziani. Concerts most nights. Book in advance as can get busy. Very talented local musicians. Free seating. Relaxed environment. No refreshments available. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The Crurch is not very amazing, you can see much more overwhelming in Venic but for concerts, oh yes, very good acustics make the experience of strokes and Vivaldi unforgettable. Near by good restaurants (Fiore) to dining before or after the concert

We have attended concerts here for the last 3 years when visiting Venice and recommend it as an experience to remember from your Venetian visit. The Chiesa San Vidal is a perfect setting for antique insrtuments and the musicians take pleasure in performing Vivaldi, Bach and Mozart. The night we were there, the cellist, wearing sparkling studded shoes, was enjoying the appreciation from the audience and we were treated to 3 encores!! Make this a must for a memorable evening in this magical city!

While visiting Venice we decided to take in the Interpreti Veneziani concert in the Chiesa San Vidal. It was an amazing, memorable experience listening to Vivaldi's Four Seasons in a beautiful old venue. I'm so glad we went!

Excellent music at San Vidal! My wife & I went to see the Interpreti Veneziani show featuring Antonio Vivaldi's four seasons. I've never been to a classical concert before but loved it. If you get the chance do go and see it, tickets were 29 Euro's and worth every penny. We cued up from 7:40pm for an 8:30 doors open. The queue formed quickly and they let us in around 8:15 instead. we got front row seats...fantastic! the only issue is the toilets, go before the concert starts as there isn't time in the intermission (cue gets too big & only 3 toilets).

The church itself does not compare to the others in VENICE but we enjoyed a wonderful conzert there. If you buy tickets for a conzert remember to go early because there is no assighed sitting.
