Local small and quaint church that is worth a visit. Built in 1365, got burned and rebuilt again, but always kept its old charm. A small entrance fee of only 2 euros, in January 2015 and worth every penny. The artist that painted many of...More

This large building houses the famous statue of the Madonna in a side chapel, set apart for prayer and contemplation. There are also several wonderful paintings in the main church and the hike out is well rewarded.

Whilst it isn't the most attractive church in Venice, it is worth a visit to see the artwork that adorns its walls.

You find very ornate churches in Italy but we liked this cathedral for its simplicity and art and history.

Madonna Dell Orto is famed for 30 years of major works by Tintoretto and its statue of the Virgin Mary recovered from the vegetable garden from which the church gets its name. The outside is far from grand: inside, its simplicity of form and lack...More

The brick path in front of the church, like most of Venice used to be long time ago, the calm of the area and a marvellous Madonna by Bellini stolen by somebody that should go to hell (!), this church still with other fantastic paintings...More

A stunning building in and out1 It is well worth attending a service even if you do not speak Italian. Stay next door in the Monastery for a well priced, comfortable family sized room (they even supplied a cot).

Really loved Tintoretto paintings. Visit was cut short due a funeral that was scheduled about 45 minutes after our arrival, but what we saw was magnificent.

amazing service, not cheap but very very comfortable and off the beaten path of the tourist stampede

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Nope. The church is in a residential area of Venice and away from most of the tourist attractions and crowds. So unless you have the misfortune of arriving the same time as a tour group does, you'll have the church mostly... More
