I am a qualified tour guide in Venice offering private guided tours in The Serenissima, on foot and by boat and in the lagoon (Murano, Burano and Torcello) in English, German and Italian.

I would love to show you the classical sites such as San Marco, the Doge's palace, the Rialto bridge and market, but also less known areas (churches, museums, gardens).

We had arranged this tour following the good rating we had seen via trip advisor. Fiona was a patient , very knowledgeable tour guide who had a wealth of information at her fingertips, able to answer all our questions. She managed to engage with both children- 9 year old and 17 year old boys and keep it light. I would... More

We scheduled 3 hours with Fiona: A 1-hour boat tour (which she arranged with a lovely boat and very nice operator) followed by a 2-hour walking tour of Venice. Fiona wasted no time: she was on time to pick us up at our hotel (Hotel Ala), and she gave us interesting information every minute of our tour about all the... More

I booked a three hour tour with Fiona for my family of four including two teenagers-16 and 17 years old. Our first hour was a power boat tour giving us a water prospective of Venice. The second hour was a one hour tour of Doge's Palace and the final hour was a walking tour in a small neighborhood away from... More

Fiona was very welcoming and her English was perfect. She was very accommodating to our needs and we learned allot about the history of the 119 islands of Venice. Highly recommended.

This is our second time we have used Fiona. The first it was just my wife and I. This time we had 15 total family members. She involved everyone in the story of Venice. So much so our 8 year old grand daughter wanted to know why Fiona wasn't doing the other tours we took in other cities in Italy.

Fiona was a great tour guide. We were travelling with our 7 and 11-year-old children and kept them engaged the entire time (although she kept my and my wife's interest the entire time as well). She's a native Venitian and knows the area very well. I highly recommend her!

Fiona is a many generation Venetian who speaks English like she grew up in the uk. She was brilliant. She took us around for two hours and managed to keep the attention of the 4 kids (ages 6-11) and not be boring for the parents at the same time. We loved our tour and just wished we'd booked more time... More

My wide and I spend a day and a half with Fiona and had a very enjoyable and informative time. Fiona's knowledge and understanding of the history of Venice is vast and her ability to impart that knowledge in an easily understandable and relevant way was much appreciated.

So glad we decided to get Fiona to showcase Venice for us when we ended our cruise there instead of opting for the ship's tour. She is friendly, passionate and knowledgable. She kept our girls on their toes by asking them questions, and whilst this freaked them out a little, they also say she was the best guide of our... More

We were lucky to have two days with Fiona in Venice. She is an incredible guide and a warm, wonderful person. My children still talk about our adventures with her. She made Venice relevant and exciting for my 10 and 13 year olds as well as the adults. If I am fortunate enough to return to Venice, I will definitely... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
