I turned left and there it was!

We, OK it was really me, spent quite a bit of effort trying to find a pasticceria which served good coffee and nice pasti in Venice. Do you think I could???? And then, rather... read more

Looked like a cute, welcoming place from the outside. Pity about the staff inside....they were unfriendly and unwelcoming. The pigeon inside felt more at home. Such a shame for a great location!

I visit Venice 5 times and this shop, is one of my favorite spot in Venice. Always i came back to taste the traditional cakes. Always fresh and nice. The staff sometimes is not kindly with the customers but i understand them because too many people visit this shop every day.

First time we sort of 'fell' into it while looking for breakfast. We chose 2 fresh squeezed orange juices, 2 sandwiches (half = 1 sandwich), 1 coffee and 1 pastry. It cost 16 euro. Asked if it was cheaper standing at the bar, yes madam. We stood standing up for the rest of our stay. Same menu cost 11 euro... More

I would suggest that Rosa Salva is a stop for locals and was recommended to me by one. You wander into the small area, grab the cake of your choice in a napkin and order a coffee. It was very busy, people only stay for a short while. The waiter did offer for me to sit at the tables, however,... More

we have visited this shop in 2008 and 2009 and found it hard to get the attention of the staff but managed to buy coffees and biscuits, but this time the staff were so rude ,ignorant and disinterested in us because we are not local we just gave up and left. i find it difficult to believe the staff could... This venue offer quick snacks and pastries which proved to be tasteful in elegant outdoor surroundings. That sentence does not do justice to the quality of food and service. Elegant Mini pastries oozing a perfect mouse or custards. We sat for over an hour enjoying our refreshments, without any hassle from staff who chatted casually if approached with questions from... A fantastic find just metres from St Marco. Very very good value for those staying self catering. 4x cappuccino and 4x prosciutto croissants cost €12 A wee diamond of a find.

This is a fairly unique place in Venice, a pasticceria, coffee shop, tea shop, bakers, meeting place. The speciality appears to be a huge range of sandwiches served in very interesting and tasty bread. It's all top quality. Added to this, the quirky bar area, serving espresso coffee to clients, mostly local. VERY popular. There's outdoor tables, and table service,... More

Although it is a branch of the renowned 'pasticceria', the service here is so lousy that makes forget the deliciousness of the treats for sale.

We, OK it was really me, spent quite a bit of effort trying to find a pasticceria which served good coffee and nice pasti in Venice. Do you think I could???? And then, rather than turn right out of Calle Pestrin we wandered left and crossed the first bridge as we headed towards Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo. And there... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
