Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers) spent a delightful morning with Luisella touring the Doge's Palace. While the weather was far from delightful, Luisella's energy, timing, and knowledge more than made up for it! She very wisely suggested an early morning start, and a tour including the Secret Itinerary. We felt like an important delegation arriving from... More

Dear Jennifer, I had a great time with you and enjoyed being with people interested in history as you are immensely! The secret itinerary of the doge's palace in Venice is a tour for those that like an in-depth narration of the political history but also are ready to view Venetian history from all its different perpectives, the propaganda on... I travel extensively, and I can say without hesitation that Luisella is one of the best--if not the best--guide I've ever been lucky enough to meet. She is highly knowledgeable about the complex history, architecture, art, and politics of the region. Her extensive knowledge is complimented by her friendliness and flexibility. She goes out of her way to be certain... More

Luisella is number one for a reason. She's just lovely, stylish, and infinitely knowledgeable about the city. There wasn't a single question we posed that she couldn't answer. She was also excellent at working out a wheelchair accessible tour to suit our interests. As it was our first day in Venice, she showed us how to use the Vaporetto, and... More

Dear Anne-Marie, thank you! It was great meeting you and your partner and to explore the Dorsoduro district, the Frari church and the Grand Canal in a cold winter day. Next time you come, there's more to see, Venice can offer more than one thinks to wheelchair users :) Warmly, Luisella More

Luisella is a humourous, sweet and well-informed tour guide. Our group of 8 (ranging from 6yrs, 15yrs, 23-40yrs) thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour walking tour which made Venice come alive to us in new ways (many of us having visited on previous occassions). Luisella's insight and emphasis on certain historical aspects of Venice and Italy made the tour extraordinary, and... More

My wife and I took two tours in Venice. Both were very worth it! Personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable all describe the tours of Venice our guide Luisella gave us - just exactly what we were looking for. We feel like there was no way we could have done this on our own.

Staying in Giudecca

Neighborhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
