Oh how I wished I'd read the reviews prior to my visit. Been to Venice now 8 times, never got to Harry's bar until this time and on it's reputation alone was looking forward to a visit. Very plain outside almost clandestine, private venue where...More

I was lured into Harry's Bar by it's reputation as being somewhere special and a "not to be missed" experience. This was based on, amongst other things, favourable comments by the late Michael Winner. Well having visited I can now report that it is a...More

Harry's Bar is a legendary local Venetian tradition- but sadly what exists now is a shadow of its former self. 44 euros for two Bellinis, and they did not even taste good at all- the bartender was kind enough to let me taste a few...More

I have to say this is how an Italian restaurant should be. An old fashioned waiter looked after our table and only two others . Firstly the food was superb / I had an octopus and scampi starter which I expected to be served as...More

We kept meaning to go but never did. Today we walked by and went into the birthplace of the Bellini. We sat at the bar since they were getting the tables ready for lunch. We enjoyed the drinks which were accompanied by chicken mushroom croquettes...More

Definitely ticked off the list of must do's in Venice. But seriously 44 euro's for two Bellini's! Glad we didn't book a table for dinner as the whole ambience was lacklustre.

We came here to be able to say we experienced the famous Harry’s Bar. The service was as expected.... perfection! The best part was the complimentary bite size appetizer they brought out. It was a chicken mushroom croquette.... yummy! We all had the famous Belinni...More

It is outrageously priced and, unless you are happy to pay €21 for a Bellini it really is not worth going into. Venice has lots more decent bars and restaurants than it did 15 years ago so simply take your custom elsewhere... More

Don't go there. It cost my husband and I 29 euros for 2 substandard drinks from grumpy waiters. There are many better places to go in Venice so dont waste your time or money.

It does seem to be that the further you are from St Marks Square, the more reasonable prices get. I ate and drank at the northern end of the city last year, near the railway station, and it was cheaper than in my hometown in the UK.
Why all the fuss over Harry's Bar?? (11 Replies)
I have just returned from Venice and we decided to pay Harry's Bar a visit as it is recommended in so many guides. I can't believe what all the fuss is about. I was very unimpressed. We left as they didn't serve any bottled beer. A bellini and a whisky and coke with the service charge would have been around 40 euros. In spite of this the place was packed. If this wasn't included in all the guide books I think most people would take a look in this bar and not bother. To pay that much for...More

It is mentioned in guide books, but I really not think that many people bother, it is very over priced, and lives a past reputation,
