We always wanted to go to this famous bar. It was very small (9 tables?) And it was very plain. The waiters were in tux's and polished. But the place was a bit of a bore. Little decorating or style. OK so now we can say we've been there. Would never go back.

Harry's is like stepping back in time depends when you go has it does get very busy and is where the original Bellini was made, best time to go is when every one goes back to the cruise ships in the late afternoon ,when we first went we were Lucy and got a table in the corner and just watched the... In comparison with the previous visit, I'd say, it has lost its unique atmosphere which drew foreign visitors. In 2010 Harry’s bar used to pay homage to Ernest Hemingway who has made this restaurant Venice landmark by his visits and novel “Across the River and Into the Trees”. Now they seem to have forgotten Hem"s contribution. The only mentioning of... More

We happened to find Harry's during our wandering one afternoon and decided to chance it. Despite wearing shorts, we were allowed in but brought to a plain room upstairs. Our backs were facing the window out of which was a lovely view. We ordered the Bellini of course and were served olives and chicken croquettes which was a nice touch.... More

The bellinis are delicious. Stopped in for a few before dinner and it was crowded but we were able to grab a table and get comfortable. Fun to stop by, just to say you did it.

There are a few things you need to know about Harry's: it's an old place and it's upscale. If you know that Harry's will be a bit exclusive and very historic, and you like that sort of thing (like I do), you will have a great time! My husband and I went late at night and sat at the bar... More

After 6 they don't accept people in shorts, there loss not mine I'll spend my money in an establishment that is reasonable especially when it's 30 degrees. The time I entered was 5.59, in my mind rude. Looks s get small place and only 3 people in the place.

Home of the Bellini! It's been a life goal to go there and it did not disappoint! The waiters were so attentive and positive and really couldn't do more to help you get the best experience at Harry's bar! The interior is small but cosy and traditional! The bellinis (as you would expect) are delicious! And although the drinks are... More

I see many negative reviews regarding the price and staff. This is a fine-dining establishment and, accordingly, there is etiquette and protocol that should be followed. I watch as tourists bolt through the door being loud and obnoxious. Of course the staff is not going to be welcoming to that in an establishment where people pay a premium for comfort... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
