Harry's will always be Harry's. No matter how you cut it going to Venice and not stopping even for a Bellini is like going to Rome and no visiting the Fontana Di Trevi. The food and service is amazing and the ambiance to die for.

We visited here because of its history with the Ernest Hemmingway connections and the supposed invention of Belinis here. Well we went and paid well over the odds for Belinis which were ok, but only ok. You would not choose to spend a night here for a good drink unless you were desperate to get rid of some of your... ...... But fully expected this. We paid €20 for 2 X Bellinis. One of those places though you just have to go.... ONCE only for the experience. Nice mix of locals (wealthy ones) and tourists. Bellini was amazing, but not worth the price. Visit if you want a treat/experience but you won't miss out if you choose not to. A... More

Sadly, this was a huge disappointment. No character, no class, just a miserable dive that used former glories to charge exorbitant prices for mediocre cocktails served in co-op tumblers by sullen staff.

A Bellini in Harry's Bar in Venice was on my Partner's Bucket List, but we had no idea where it was. When visiting St. Marks I was waiting for her to come back from buying Water Bus tickets and enjoying a quiet smoke, when I casually looked up........and there it was! The iconic Bar and home of the Bellini! It... More

Having recently stumbled upon Harry's Bar Venice, I was truly excited to walk through the narrow frosted glass door. The history and character of the famed establishment was not immediately obvious, this I'm sure the reason for the overall low tripadvisor ratings. The bar is simple, small, and rather understated, some may even say scruffy looking. This leads me to... More

Harry's is one of my favorite restaurants in Venice, but know what you are getting into before entering! If you are looking for an extravagant evening out, complete with views and style, you might book elsewhere. Service is impeccable here by the dapper white-jacketed front-of-house staff, and the food is fantastic, but the decor is very simple and despite the... More

The reputation of this bar meant that no trip to venice was complete without a visit. It's a very small bar with a few tables scattered about, and seems to have more staff than customers. Extremely expensive (35 euros for 2 drinks) and you can't have wine or beer at the bar, only if you book a table for food...... More

3 of us arrived at about 5pm and had the most lovely martinis. The staff seemed as if they could be a bit snooty - but engage them a little without distracting them and our bartender was lovely. We decided to have another drink (so no big dinner!) but some olives, bread and chicken croquettes arrived to nibble. The place... More

Stopped in for an after dinner drink. Fun experience from old Italy. Almost felt like a scene out of Casablanca. Great bar and banquettes. Expensive but perfect for a couple of drinks (Martinis and of course Bellinis). Good service from old school white coated waiters and an adept showman/barman. Perfect way to end a few days in Venice.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
