Any time day or night feels right to go to Harry's. Dinner snacks or drinks. Makes you feel part of that history! It's an institution in Venice. Fun people watching too!

We only popped in for a Bellini ( a bit like having a Singapore Sling in Raffles) as it seemed like something we had to do. My husband was wearing shorts - it was 24 degrees, but long trousers only allowed in the bar downstairs, so we were ushered up to the cheap seats - no view of anything. The... More

Wished there was a view of the canal. They do serve good coffee (2 cups/order) and cookies that go with it. Their Bellini is yummy and goes with a generous amount of olives. Would I go back? Maybe not, I would rather do al fresco.

After having given this restaurant much research before our trip we learned of its history and fell in love.. It was a must see see on our trip to Venice. We arrived in the late afternoon and were greeted by the host and pointed to a table. The service was surly and the bellinis were almost tasteless. They made it... More

Fame makes things differ from the original but Harry's Bar is still something you should try out if you are in Venice and do not mind the bill too much. The food is expensive but worth six stars, and kind of compensated by a long list of pretty affordable wines. Obviously, top wines are also listed but their prices are... More

We went into Harry's after touring Doges Palace. We went upstairs and asked for a table for 4. The host quickly looked around and said he had nothing for us. Was rude and condescending and made no offer to have us come back another time. It was afternoon, not overflowing with people. We would not recommend a visit there and... More

The mystique is half of the entertainment here, but getting served at the bar is a complete bore, and it's only any good if you can get a table. Come at a time when people aren't eating, grab a table (if possible), have a bellini and go.

You should go here just because you can. It was a nice small place to have some food and get a drink. It can be crowded but if you go at the right time you can get right in. We went for lunch and had no problem getting a table.

Me and my friend heard about Harry's Bar and after a little research we decided to go and try a Bellini after all this is where it was invented. We knew it was gonna be expensive but hey its an experience right. From the moment we turned up the staff were so welcoming and although we couldn't afford to eat... More

This is our first time to Venice and having heard of the famous Harry's bar we went there to try out their famous Bellini. As we entered the place was full of tourists. It's a small bar with low ceilings and no atmosphere. The service was good but the staff are not welcoming. We ordered two snacks and two Bellini.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
