We were told that visiting Harry's bar was a must and to try the famous 'Bellini' we could not have been more disappointed. The bar despite its art deco interior - lacked atmosphere, it had less atmosphere than a ferry crossing waiting room. The waiters...More

We popped in for a quick pre-lunch drink a little worried about the reception we'd get with our 10, 7 and 3 year old daughter's. In years gone by my wife and I have been regular bar flies, but always on our own or with...More

We know someone from Venice and she said we Had to go to Harry’s Bar. She must get a kickback because their “famous” Peach Bellinis are 22 Euros each, yes, I did say 22 Euros for approx 8oz. What’s worse is that they are no...More

This is the good news. A regular place, wonderful osso buco and delicious liver “Venetian style”. Great service and professional advice on wines from the area. A wonderful evening. It is a privilege to have a dinner table in the bar on the ground floor....More

This was the perfect way to enter 2019. The evening was elegant and luxurious with copious amounts of champagne and other drinks. Food was first class. The music and dancing were great fun. It is expensive but absolutely worth it.... we created such a beautiful...More

We arrived before the midday rush and sucked in the atmosphere. The crisp white jackets of the waiters reflecting in the polished mahogany of the tables like the ghosts of Hemmingway and Bogart as we ordered our Daiquiri and Negroni's. Please be under no illusion,...More

The place has no character or atmosphere AT ALL. 13€ for an an alcoholic Bellini and 22€ for an alcoholic one served in TINY WATER GLASSES WITHOUT EVEN DECORATION. Really incredible such a place manages to survive when there are plenty of great places in...More

If you want to truly enjoy Harry’s Bar, come for dinner and skip the Bellini. It’s an OK drink in summer (also when fresh peach is at it’s best), but definitely not worth the money. Negroni, however, is always a good idea and the evening...More

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with

It is outrageously priced and, unless you are happy to pay €21 for a Bellini it really is not worth going into. Venice has lots more decent bars and restaurants than it did 15 years ago so simply take your custom elsewhere... More

Don't go there. It cost my husband and I 29 euros for 2 substandard drinks from grumpy waiters. There are many better places to go in Venice so dont waste your time or money.

It does seem to be that the further you are from St Marks Square, the more reasonable prices get. I ate and drank at the northern end of the city last year, near the railway station, and it was cheaper than in my hometown in the UK.
Why all the fuss over Harry's Bar?? (11 Replies)
I have just returned from Venice and we decided to pay Harry's Bar a visit as it is recommended in so many guides. I can't believe what all the fuss is about. I was very unimpressed. We left as they didn't serve any bottled beer. A bellini and a whisky and coke with the service charge would have been around 40 euros. In spite of this the place was packed. If this wasn't included in all the guide books I think most people would take a look in this bar and not bother. To pay that much for...More

It is mentioned in guide books, but I really not think that many people bother, it is very over priced, and lives a past reputation,
