One of the best sights to see. Be careful because when the tide is in it's all under water. Bring boots!

Interesting to see the domes close up. You also see the original horses and a good view of the square. It is free to go in St Marks , just queue up and then it was 5€ to go up to the dome. Pay at...More

Marvell at this old building and its history. Come early or late to avoid the long lines throughout the day. It is free, but a few areas inside cost a few Euros to enter. Another amazing place to look at.

The wait is worth it - this is a spectacular building and well maintained by the Venicians. It's a must see on a visit to Venice.

Go very early morning if you want to see inside the basilica. However, if you have to queue for a couple of hours you may be slightly disappointed - it is very dark inside and obviously very old but it is not one of the...More

There was a long line to get into the Basilica but it was even more crowded once you got in. It is hard to appreciate that it is a church with the noise and the crowds (all too common in major church attractions in Italy)....More

If you're going in the shoulder season, don't bother with reserving a time online for 2€ like we did. Just show up when the church opens at 9:45 and the line will be fairly short. We showed the guard our printed voucher, and he just...More

Amazing, even though when we were there they were working on part of the building roof. One of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen.

It's a must-visit, of course, if you're in Venice. Beware of those people who are selling items of little value, pickpockets, etc. It's almost always busy, but going during dusk time will make the pictures even more brilliant.

The outside alone is stunning the queues can be very long to get inside but once inside it really is very beautiful.. I would suggest getting there 20 mins before opening..

San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one
of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza
San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica,
clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops,
orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand
pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring
campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower,
plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and

Yes, a small bag/purse is allowed but bag packs have to be checked at the cloak room for free. The instructions are displayed at the entry, u can't miss it.
