We stayed on the Giudecca at the Hilton, Molino Stuckey. We would take the shuttle boat from the hotel across the lagoon to the Zattere stop. It was a pleasant neighbor hood in the Dorsodura with plenty to see.

Only a 10 minute from our hotel, this is a great place for a quiet stroll in the sunshine. The Zattere stretches from end to end on the west side of the city, with the Guidecca Canal running parallel. Here you will see waterbuses/ferries going...More

While exploring on Dorsodura we saw a huge Cruise ship coming up the canal that separates this quarter from the Giudecca quarter. We found a long waterfront area of shops, bars, restaurants & sights away from the Tourist crowds of San Marco. Charming! Ciao!

Located ah the southern end of Venice. As you go along the Giudecca canal you will see some giant cruise ships. The area tends to be free of tourists unless they are changing Vaporettos as we did to have a little stroll around the area.

The Fondamenta delle Zattere, in the district of Dorsoduro. This wide stone paved waterfront area is at the side of the extremely wide Guidecca Canal that runs from the cruise port's San Basilio pier to the tip of Dorsoduro. This is a quite area of...More

The Zatterre runs from Punta Della Dogana to the San Basilio station along the south shore of Sestiere Dorsoduro. Just over 1 kilometer in length, gives great views of Giudecca and the Giudecca Canal. As this is on the south side of Venice there is...More

The Fondamenta Zattere is my favourite place in Venice for a stroll, wide open spaces by the canal, not crowded, I love the views over to Giudecca and ever-changing views of the canal depending on the weather, traffic on the water, there might even be...More
