The area
Address
Neighborhood: Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Stopped by in Campo dei Gesuiti and had a snack under the shadows on the old trees in the middle of the piazza. It was a good occasion to sit back and observe the locals 'daily life/activities as fewer tourists come as far as this area of Venice.

Came here for a short trip to Venice with my mum, was greeted by a lovely man who checked us in. The room was well prepared and felt cosy. The view was amazing! It's also right next to the main water taxi pick up spot. I would say that the kitchen does need to be updated/stocked up a bit as there weren't many pans and no kettle, the microwave was also broken and the fridge did not shut properly so was not cold enough. Apart from this it was a lovely stay.

Having time available for the Vaporetto that takes you to Burano, from Fondanmente Nove, I took a quick walk.
I discovered a little-known but very beautiful part of Venice.
Campo dei Gesuiti, Church of Santa Maria Assunta, Ponte dei Gesuiti with views of Fondamenta Zen and Rio Santa Cateriana.
It is definitely worth a more thorough visit with more time.
