When visiting the Doge's Palace, worth noting the nice courtyard in the centre (you usually pass through this at the end of your visit). Lovely steps up from ground level. Nice statues in the courtyard, too.

The staircase was built after the fire of the palace in 1483 according to the project of the architect from Verona, Antonio Rizzo. Marblers and carvers from Certosa di Pavia, the monastery of the Carthusian order, where the architect was trained, worked on the creation of this masterpiece.

These stairs located within the courtyard of the Palazzo Ducale were the official entrance into the building. At the top of the stairs are statues of Mars and Neptune. Not open to the public but makes for a great photo.

These are very impressive stairs of the Doge's Palace. They are quite old and very historical, so worth seeing!

One of the main features you'll see in the inner courtyard of the Dodge's Pallace.
Amazing architecture rich in details.

These steps were the official entrance to the Palazzo dei Dogi and were finished in 1491, at the head of the stairs are statues of Mars and Neptune representing the land and the sea. The coronation of the Doge also took place on these stairs. You can look at them but are not allowed to climb them.

A magnificent staircase leading up to the main entrance of the Palazzo Ducale. Most imposing features are the colossal statues of Mars and Neptune that flank each side of stairway at the top of landing. This stairway is not always opened to the public. Even if you can't access this entry, it is still a wonderful photo op.

This stair case should have much more street cred. Beautiful statues at the top. This was the main entrance into Doge's Palace and the link between the Palace and the Basilica. It can be viewed from either side, but you can't walk on the stairs.

This is a set of stairs built around 1490 as the official entrance to the Doge Palace. Flanking the staircase are statues of Mars and Neptune, representing Venice on both land (Mars) and sea (Neptune). These can be seen but not ascended nor descended
