We visited during the Venice Biennale to see the artworks exhibited on San Servolo and it made for a lovely morning strolling around in the sun. Great views and interesting history - the island having once housed the lunatic asylum.
Def recommended if there is also artwork on display (check first) as San Servolo is a fascinating place and only 10 mins from the hustle and bustle of San Marco...it really is another world! lovely short boat ride there and back but there is nothing here other than the conference centre and hotel plus a café. Have to say I would be loathe to visit if there was no exhibition and my time in Venice was limited.

I went to San Servolo for a conference - what a great place! Quiet, beautiful garden, interesting museum & history (used to be an asylum) and even the bathrooms offer stunning views across the lagoon of Venice. €10 round-trip vaparetto. Worth the visit if you want some quiet time in Venice.

Seen during the visit to the Asylum Museum, it leaves a little to be desired overall. It boasts an eighteenth-century organ and two beautiful altarpieces in the side altars, but it doesn't inspire. At least, not like the Museum itself.
