About
The heart of Casinò di Venezia beats on the Grand Canal in Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the sophisticated theatre of the most classic games. In 1638 the Casinò di Venezia quickly established itself as the centre of entertainment of international notoriety while in the 1950s it moved to this location.

The area

Address
Neighborhood: Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Visited this casino in 1997 and again in 2023. Opens at odd hours and really only worth going if you are willing to pay 50 Euros per person to get in. Don't like having to pay to get into a casino but for the historic value it may be worth a look. Blackjack were continuous shuffle machines with low maximums so you will more than likely loose as game is totally random. Went on a Friday and it was annoying taking 15 minutes to register to get in. If there ever was a casino designed to lose money an not attract new customers this is it. Opens 3 days a week and there was more staff than players when we went. You have to climb 3 floors of steps to get in so older or physically more challenged people be aware.

Please don't waste your time or money here.

Where to begin? After paying a mandatory 50 euro entrance fee ( minus 20 euros for play and a bottom rail only drink coupon) to staff who looked annoyed that you were there, prepare to be treated to a handful of tables and some video slot machines. Or relax in their near empty bar or lavishly decorated smoking room.

So why did we go? A colleague recommended going saying it was like a James Bond movie...I would liken it to a scuzzy Freemont St casino in Las Vegas.

Venice is an amazing city and not to be missed, so please don't waste a precious moment here.

If you do go, don't worry about their website's dress code. I fell for it, traversing their sporting pants, a long sleeved shirt, and shoes (in July) and yet I saw the few sad, lonely, disappointed looking patrons wearing sandals, t-shirts and jeans (and not all at once). Having said that, the staff (I believe there were more than visitors) were impeccably dressed, though at 50 euros a pop, I guess they can afford it.

I would have shared photos, but cameras aren't allowed. I can understand why...

Unless you are a hardened gambler or just want to say you gambled at the birthplace of the casIno; the main other reason to come here is for classical music lovers. The building was the location where the great opera composer, Richard Wagner died in 1883. There are plaques comemorating this on both the canal and street side of the building. In addition there is a small museum dedicated to Wagner memorabilia. You need to arrange a visit before arriving.

Awful , ugly casino, with shocking behaviour from the staff.
Entering the casino is very disappointing, it’s small, tired and hardly any games to play, so I decided to play the roulette.
First spin I lost 100
Second spin I won a little back and as they gave the chips the watcher told me when I win I need to give a tip, even though I clearly was not winning,
His attitude was aggressive and I replied maybe when I win.
He was very rude and every spin kept insisting I give tips to the point it was embarrassing, he was asking to give tips for his dinner etc.
then the lady working the roulette got involved and started to tell me I need to tip when I win. And they was talking bad about me in Italian which I can understand. I ignored them and carried playing.
Then to my surprise I almost won every spin and could see them becoming more angry and demanding of tips.
Was unbelievable. Just pure begging after they had just abused me. I told them I will not give them one cent because they need to learn some respect.
Amd I had the same situation as they changed the staff twice and both of the other watchers was begging too ,very aggressive. By this point I told them enough we have already done this routine with ur colleagues.
I left the table thousands of euro up (first time ever 😂)and the pure anger of the watcher was very clear and threatening.
I said thank you and left with a huge smile on my face.
I have been too casinos all over the world and I HAVE NEVER witnessed such desperate, embarrassing, rude and begging behaviour.
I definitely will never return.

I have wanted to visit the world’s oldest Casino for 40 years.
I have visited casinos on three continents and reading the reviews I was wary.
This is a great place.
The €50 Euro entry makes perfect sense if you don’t want it packed with drunken louts. They rebate half that in gambling chips.
The building is breathtaking and although it is nothing (thankfully) like Vegas or Reno, it is as close to Casino Royals I have ever seen.
The bars are lovely, the staff friendly.
Don’t believe the negative reviews. They’re either too cheap or looky loos!

Very unfriendly staff. They make you pay a ticket of €50 which is divided into €20 to play and they give you a drink. But they don't tell you that of these €20 they give you 2 chips and you only have 2 spins to make, they don't let you exchange it for more smaller chips, they give you 2 of €10. I aside, not everything fits into the consumption. For me it's a joke.

I was at cà Noghera in the month of July... if I had to list even just one positive side I would have a lot of difficulty!!! listless and very arrogant staff starting from the croupiers who demand and demand the infamous tip as if it were an obligation by addressing the unfortunate player with insistence and if it is not given or given partially they start speaking in Venetian dialect among themselves denigrating you. As far as I'm concerned I define them as Beggars and Accattoni also considering the fact that hospitality is equal to 0!!! At the point and dealer there are only tables with free tax with a clear advantage for the house or without free tax you have to sit in those min.100 without having the possibility of betting from the outside!!
I advise you to avoid it absolutely and possibly travel a few more kilometers across the border!!
How sad!!!!

The glories of the past have now vanished. The Casino would require major restoration work on the internal spaces. The absence of a strict dress code means that practically anyone and in any clothing can enter. This is decidedly demeaning and sad for the elegance that a place of this kind demands. The bar is making a big mistake in selling bottled beer without guaranteeing that consumption takes place exclusively in limited spaces (that of the bar area, it goes without saying): consequently some customers circulate in the gaming area sipping beer as if we were at the Sports Bar . Unfortunately, at present, it is an experience not to be recommended.

Cost of admission € 50 per person (then they "give" you a voucher of € 20 to play). Slots old and pay very low. Never seen a casino that instead of attracting customers turns them away. Never again.

This review likely won’t do our stay justice. We started our honeymoon here, and our entire time at Palazzo Venart was phenomenal. Luana, Giacomo, and Lisa were so much help to us throughout our stay with every aspect. Concierge service was immediate and on point at all times, and although we were unable to have dinner at the Glam (Michelin 2 star), we had our first dinner at the Bistrot, and the food was beyond fantastic. I had the risotto and my wife had the vegetarian soup. Their selection of wine was great, we had a bottle of Brunello with dinner, (and another bottle later that evening lol). They had scheduled our Gondola ride for the first evening for us, as well as a water taxi and private driver to bring us to our next location. We will DEFINITELY be coming back for an anniversary at some point!
