Five years ago we visited Treviso and were stunned by the beautiful well preserved historic walled city, with magnificent buildings, some of which went back to the 13th Century. Treviso is further spruced up by charming waterways, giving ot s feeling of being in Venice sometimes. But making Treviso a real 5 point plus destination was the modest amount of tourists, making Treviso really livable. Beautiful and charming Treviso was a well kept secret. But sadly, one day we saw Treviso promoted on the Internet as an alternative tourist attraction to Venice. Now, Treviso is on the radar of many tourists and it shows. It was far more busy as five years ago and the restaurant we went to for lunch full of anticipation, had been turned into a tourist trap, where tourists were bussed in for lunch. Fortunately, the neighbours were still the same as five years ago but there it is. But
Treviso is still beautiful Treviso with an easy five points rating.

Got to say, I was really astonished by the medieval city centre of Treviso. Those who only land here and make their way to Venice miss so much of the lovely character of this city. Make sure to see all the little side streets leading in and out of Canale dei Buranelli!

We wanted to take a look at the tranquil Treviso and drove there by car. But unfortunately the city planners have forgotten something very important for mobile visitors: PARKING STATIONS! They don't exist and there is already a queue of waiting cars in front of the undersized "garages". We looked for a parking space for 40 minutes until we finally gave up, completely unnerved and drove back to our holiday destination. And we were here in the absolute off-season! What it will look like in the summer - I have no idea!

Unfortunately we only had one night in this wonderful city and wished it was longer. We had no expectations really but were blown away by its simplicity and beauty.

We had heard it was similar to a small Venice but less tourists and I suppose in a way it is. There are not nearly as many waterways but it does have canals through the city with the adds to its charm.

History is all around and the buildings are beautiful. Lots of narrow streets and plazas make it fantastic for getting lost in and finding a restaurant or bar.

City of canals, with many corners to discover. A city to be savored sitting at a table drinking prosecco. Enjoy the never loud chatter of the people sitting on the steps of the various seats. I consider Treviso a city on a human scale with a wide range of trattorias and taverns with local culinary offerings capable of satisfying anyone. Close to Venice and easy to reach. For a weekend it is ideal.

Do you like exploring quaint little alley ways, all brick or stone paved? Do you like the element of surprise each time you turn the corner, to discover another statue, piazza or cute little cafe? Well, do not miss Treviso. Shopping, gastronomic & discover delights about in this quaint old city.

To get around on foot or by bike: these are the two best ways to visit this city, not too big, but full of interesting views and views that would inevitably be lost by car. They call it "little Venice" not by chance: more waterways than in this town I have only seen them in Venice! But being running water, their cleanliness is considerably superior to the Venetian resort!

Small town on a human scale, nice but I found it a little dirty. I had different expectations. Wide range of taverns, trattorias and typical places to eat traditional dishes at a good price.

It was our first time in Treviso and we were nicely surprised about this nice and quite city. It's absolutely beautiful, with its canals, old watermills, beautiful buildings including churches and the nice central Piazza del Signori. We walked all around the city, very tidy, clean, full of nice shops, good place for shopping, good restaurants, small markets. The pedestrian area is gorgeous. Very nice to enjoy a good coffee in the centre and keeping walking through the streets, full of surprises. Smaller and less busy and famous than the close city of Venice but incredibly beautiful. It definitely deserves a visit.

We thought to use this small town for one night just to take a nap and move to Venice in the morning, but the night walk through Treviso definitely changed my mind. Lot of cozy piazzas, tiny canals, cafés and bars. Also random walk through a city without a map will show you some interesting hidden landmarks, and of course take a walk along the fortress wall which surrounds the city.
