There are many beautiful buildings in this wonderful city and this one appears near the top of the list of the best ones. Beautifully maintained and dominating the area it certainly is a focal point.

It is worth noting that it closes in the afternoon so you won’t be able to visit until later on. As with other buildings, it is surrounded by history and has a great story to tell.

It is also in amongst posh boutiques, some lovely pavement cafés and restaurants.

The original palace was completed in 1268, but the building underwent significant changes over time. In 1944 it was almost completely destroyed by Allied bombs. What you see is -to a large extent- a reconstruction. Still, an attractive building in the middle of historic Treviso.

Interesting to note is palaces like dei Trecento were always centers of civil power. The Republic of Venice was a secular state where the power of religious authorities was limited. Eventually the principle of separation between Church and State became a guiding principle for modern democracies. Today the palazzo dei Trecento is still the seat of the Treviso municipal council.

Cute square in the heart of Treviso. Surrounded by side streets, shops, cafes and restaurants this old town has everything you need without the tourists of Venice! A true hidden gem.

This place is a heart of town, we took a walk in the evening watching the palace with a charming lighting.
Nice cafés and bars nicely revile this square in front of the palace.

The Palazzo dei Trecento gives the Piazza dei Signori a real medieval toch. In other cities, ruled by the Venetian Republic, similar buildings can be found, often called Palazzo di Ragione. Frome these buildings the cities were governed. Important buildings and we must be glad that this historic building Palazzo dei Trecento has been preserved and shines in the historic center of Treviso.

The palace stands fiercely as a symbol of the past able to survive the bombing of the second world war. The signs of the reconstruction are perfectly camouflaged and only a investigative eye can find them. Considering that the rest of the city has plenty of "late middle-ages" and renaissance palaces ( with their external paintings almost invisible nowadays ) in a bad state, it is a fortune that the " Palazzo dei Trecento" still presents itself perfectly.
