Beautiful morning on the bike. We left from Treviso to reach Casier. The road is well maintained. In some sections you have to carry the bike by hand, but otherwise there are no other limitations. Lots of animals (swans, ducks..) along the route.

We rented bikes for our family of 4 at http://www.travelsport.org/. They are conveniently located right on the river (about 10 km outside of Treviso). Bikes of good quality (for adults and kids 10 and 11) and very reasonably priced. Marco spoke good English and provided us with maps.
The bike ride is easy as the path is provided with clear signs. And since it follows the river, it is entirely flat land. We rode to Treviso and spent some time touring the center (the center is mostly car-free). Total trip length and estimated 25 km's.
The tour around the river is really nice as it goes though protected wildlife areas. We saw huge numbers of birds, big fish, beavers and turtles in the water. The kids really enjoyed this.
Marco informed us that new parts to the trail are almost ready and will open later this year.

Treviso is an attractive upscale city with some picturesque canals and buildings. It's a short train ride from Venice and there are several trains every hour (3.3 Euro each way). While I certainly wouldn't want to put it on the Italy A list, if you are looking for a short, non-touristy side trip from Venice it's a pleasant place to stroll and have lunch.

Along the river, there is a nice walking / cycling path. The scenery is very nice along the major part of it (some industrial buildings here and there).
The only issue is the fact it is not circular, so you cannot walk that long on it if you plan on returning.
We would suggest hitting this walk after lunch, as everything in this town seems to be closed between 12:30 and 15:30.

Follow the river Sile out of town (against the flow of water) and be amazed by the natural beauty and the lucky house facing the river. Look out for the wild life and look carefully and I'm sure you'll see the trout (look very carefully). If you have plenty if thine there is a map along the way of a marked walk. We only walked two hours and it's much longer that that so we turned around and mid point.

This is a towpath I go along very often as I live nearby. I never tire of it as the river, flora and fauna are constantly changing with the seasons. you can follow it for many kilometres on foot, cycling or running. It's very picturesque and relaxing and if you avoid mid afternoon when there are more people, you have it all to yourself. Late afternoon in spring and summer brings out the beautiful colours of the trees and flowers. Those who are good walkers will eventually come across some lovely old villas too. A must for the keen wildlife photographer.

Treviso is known to many as the "Città delle Acque" (City of waters) because of its small rivers and canals. After all, it is only a bunch of miles away from Venice.
The Restera however, is not located in the town centre. The walk starts from the centre (Via Alzaia) but takes you East towards the sea. It is a peaceful stroll along the water and the scenario changes a few times. It is delightful.
It takes you to the biggest cinema complex in town (Cinecity) so you can stop there if you like. In the same area you can find a famous local eatery called "Nea" where they mainly serve deep fried snacks along with aperitivo drinks.
However, you can decide to walk further and reach Casale del Sile, another picturesque spot near Treviso.

When in Treviso take some time to walk along the river side called Restera, fro treviso it takes you to lovely Casier, a nice little town about 50 minutes walk where you can take an aperitivo near the little marina and pesdestrian area around the piazza.

This is a nice route once you get away from the traffic and although we did it by foot for about an hour in each direction, most other people were travelling by bike. The route is easy to follow (just follow the river), but there are no obvious points to stop for a drink of water, beer etc. we only went about 5kms down stream (following the flow of the water) and didnt come across any place to grab a drink. A pity as it's nice and green. (No toilet stop possibilities for the distance we travelled)
