I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I searched out and found this lovely museum. There were very few visitors when I was there, but it's well worth the time.....it's a mix of history about Padua's hospital and medical school, along with general medical science. There are nice videos (of costumed performers) to deliver some of the history (subtitled in English), and interactive exhibits regarding anatomy and physiology.

As Padua has one of the most known Medical Universities in the world, the museum of history of medicine is a must visit. It is focused on children and young people so there are many interactive attractions you can learn from.

Opened in 2014, this museum is on the site of the first ‘ospedale’. Focus is on history of medicine, here is the birthplace ..., human anatomy and a health and nutrition activity for the younger set. Definitely something for everyone. Don’t miss it!

Not all three kids (teenagers) where that much interested in medecine and anatomy, but I found it very informative and presented in an attractive way.

Costs €10 to get in and is not covered by the Padova card, but nonetheless is worth the price of entry. Aimed more at the kids than adults, it does, however, have a novel, hands-on way of getting information over which engages both groups. I had fun as it is highly interactive. Descriptions are only available in English on separate detachable note cards (next to the main exhibits) or in subtitles on some of the main videos. That being said I appreciated the efforts to be multilingual for the main events. Basically, it was fun being a big kid for awhile!

We were really disapointed after we visited MUSME. It is interesting but all films and explanations are in Italian. We could not believe there were no bilingual explanations for most museum items. For a touristic city like Padua it is unbelievable.

Dear visitor, Thank you for your review. Much of the exhibition itinerary (videos, information panels, infographics, multimedia games) had been translated. The videos are in Italian but subtitled in English. The italian panels have nearby small panels with the same text in English. We are happy to inform you that the remaining parts (mostly captions and interactive workstations) are currently being translated. Hopefully, when you will visit the museum again, it will be completely translated for your full enjoyment. Best wishes. The staff of MUSME

The museum is very well organized. There is a good balance between the number of exhibits, interactive interfaces and the story of medicine development itself. The ladies who work there are kind and informative and only thing that's separating the whole museum from 5 star grade is lack of English-written information. Although they are trying and there are texts written in English, it's definitely not enough for a museum that significance.

MUSME is a collection of exhibits that describe the history of medicine. Since the University of Padua houses one of the oldest medical schools in the world, it is fitting for this museum to be located in the historic center of Padua, within walking distance of the medical school. Exhibits explain gross anatomy, the development of pharmacology, surgery and also focus on the evolution of medical education.

I’d expected something oriented to children, maybe a computerized tour of the human body, which two exhibits indeed offered; but the museum as a whole was well-done and even got us into the interactive part, like standing as if you were going through airport security screening and having the screen project the organs in various parts of the body – not really yours, of course. I liked the video clips with either a slacker male student or a know-it-all female student interacting with costumed characters from medical history. To start each video, you rapped a round metal door knocker. Although it was sparse on artifacts, the museum did a good job of conveying the history of medicine and medical education and the history of the medical school at Padova and the University of Padova as a whole. It would be a good idea to visit this museum before touring the Orto Botanico and the Palazzo Bo.

Lots of fun and interactive displays with plenty of historic and up to date medical information.
There could be a little more information written in English but for the most part it is sufficient.
