This is the commercial centre of Padua and served as a vegetable market in the past. You can still buy fruit and vegetables but also some other things. The obvious king of this square is, of course, the imposing Palazzo della Ragione. If you visit the palace, you have a nice view of the square from the 16th-century loggia by Palladio. Around the square, there are also other nice palaces such as Palazzo delle Debite and Palazzo del Podestá along with shops, cafes and bars. A really nice square with a busy atmosphere.

You’ve not been to Padova unless you’ve been here. The Saturday market here is a joy to behold. You can buy anything from fruit and veg to clothes. There are loads of places to sit for a coffee or aperol spritz, have a snack, lunch or dinner. You really are spoilt for choice.

Time and time again throughout our stay, we found ourselves drawn back to here and it’s great vibe.

Sit down and enjoy a "tramezzino" and an apertif, and watch the world go by in this beautiful piazza. You can visit the museum on the first floor, where there is a wonderful Foucault penduluum

A daily market is held in Piazza del Erbe with fruits and vegetables, In the night it transforms into cafes that spill out into the Piazza.

Great spot to stroll around and have a Spritz before dinner.
Beautiful architecture and plenty of outdoor/indoor seating. Watch the sun go
down over one of the most elegant squares in Italy.

This pre-Roman square is dominated by the impressive medieval Palazzo della Ragione. The sq itself is a irregular rectangle, changing activities during the day.
The Palazzo houses a museum and in the morning there's a fruit and vegetable market adjoined by many stalls beneath Palazzos archs selling famous cheese, wine, etc.
From dusk, the sq turns in to an open air dining area, where restaurants around have their outdoor seating.
Very nice, whenever you come.

A large market area dating back to pre-Roman times. The gorgeous Palazzo della Ragione fronts the square. When we arrived, a large market was in full force and the square was filled with colorful stalls and active shoppers. A great place to sit with a cappuccino and watch life unfold.

The building separating this piazza from the one behind it is most interesting. Walk to either end and look through. Both squares have markets every day selling everything from clothing to fresh vegetables, and this area produces many vegetables!

Padua has several markets but the one with the largest selection of fruits and vegetables is this one. I enjoyed strolling around the market and taking in the scene during my recent visit in the city. The market is surrounded by interesting buildings with many cafes where you can stop for an espresso or a quick bite. Going to the markets is definitely worthwhile if you visit Padua and I would be sure to include this one. It is a short walk from the tram.
