Allow a couple of hours at least. The new glasshouses are extremely interesting and informative and the layout of this garden established in 16thC has been recreated in a very clever way. We particularly liked the medicinal herb area. Sadly nowhere within the gardens to...More

Interesting garden with a lot of different plants from all around the world. It is nice to see how a small project with a couple of plants can grow into such large collection of flowers, plants and trees over the years. I followed the path...More

I went solo to the Orto Botanico, established in 1545 and thus one of the world’s oldest teaching gardens and still a division of the University of Padova. Getting there involved something of a hike, since it lay several blocks beyond St. Anthony’s, but it...More

The highlight of my wife’s visit to Padova. We spent hours just wandering around admiring all the plants and flowers both outside and in the modern hothouse. She now wants to visit Padova at another time of year just to see more plants and flowers.

The oldest botanical garden in Europe is beautifully laid out and interesting and has been augmented by an informative and enjoyable modern set of climatically zoned hot houses. Well worth a visit.

This is a perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny day. Close to the St. Anthony basilica, this botanical garden is nicely arranged and maintained. Signage could be improved, but the collection is quite notable and instructive.

This is THE botanical garden and you must see it. Don't expect a garden of flowers or colours, it was not (and is not) conceived like this. This a the garden where you can appreciate biodiversity. The old section reflects the design and planning of...More
