The (mandatory) audio guide points out the many cultural aspects of the setting that the modern tourist might miss, explaining the gulf between nobles and peasants at the time. How this was presented in the art in the tower is fascinating.

Incredible 15th century fresco cycle of the 12 months which are explained by the excellent audioguide included in the tour. The one thing you must see in Trenton.

I would have loved to stay another hour at least to contemplate the 11 frescoes of the months of the year. Absolute masterpieces! Indeed one month is missing from the series and you will have to visit to find out how ;)

The whole place maintains in a very good way. The place combine art history and culture. The "frescoes " up in the tower are very impressive and demonstrate daily life all year long. You can seethe differentiation between all social classes.

Torre Aquila is part of the Buonconsiglio Castle in Trento, even though it is not always included in the visit. However, I strongly recommend to visit it, as it hosts one of the most interesting series of medieval paintings I've ever seen. Each painting portrays...More
