Insights into exotic Mediterranean landscapes and views of the surrounding...

Insights into exotic Mediterranean landscapes and views of the surrounding mountain chains and sun-kissed Merano: The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle comprises eighty natural and cultivated landscapes nestled into a natural amphitheatre, a wide array of themed gardens, and numerous Artist Pavilions and Experience Stations. Visitors find the extraordinary combination of nature, culture and art at South Tyrol's most popular attraction absolutely enchanting. The interplay of historical and contemporary architecture, a rich variety of events, and seasonal blooming throughout the course of the year all make Trauttmansdorff an experience for all five senses and for visitors of all ages. After being named Italy's Most Beautiful Garden in 2005 and Europe's No. 6 Garden in 2006, Trauttmansdorff was honored with the International Garden of the Year award in 2013, thus joining the ranks of the world's most important and beautiful gardens and parks. The Touriseum, the spirited museum housed inside Trauttmansdorff Castle, now spotlights recent tourism history and features new exhibits about the castle's VIP guests.

Set into the hill, with many different walk ways and areas to explore. The restaurant is certainly worth a visit and we had a very good lunch with excellent service. Suitable for wheelchairs/prams and children's activities on the way around. Lovely.

We were traveling as a group from the USA American Horticulture. This was one of our destinations. Plan on a whole day. We were greeted by Hikie and our group was divided into 2. Klaus was our guide. I know why do you need a guide to see a garden. Understanding how it was built and the soil brought in... More

So much to see. Even a full day was not sufficient to absorb the magnificence of this place. So many different plants all grouped together and true value for money at €12.

This is an amazing place to visit. We could have spent all day there. 12Euros entrance fee was great value. There is something for everyone here of all ages. Also within the house is a charming Museum on Tourisum. You can be in gardens from all around the globe ans we enjoyed the English meadow.

The Italian version of Harlow Carr Gardens? Well laid out with many viewpoints but quite a few steep ramps and steps. Well worth a visit!

This complex is huge, and we weren't able to see all of it. We were highly impressed by what we had seen - a beautiful and well groomed Italian garden with many kinds of flowers and a beautiful museum about the history of tourism. This place definitely worth a visit if you are around.

Fantastic gardens. A day is not long enough to fully appreciate the flowers and plants. We walked from our hotel in Merano and it was well signposted
