Pleasant spot for a break
Sep 2019
A covered area at the top of the town where you can sit and admire the view of the river, perhaps whilst enjoying an ice cream available nearby.

Cozy walk along the river
Nov 2018 • Couples
Really must see and walk along path on the bank of the river stretching for about one kilometre from the Kurhaus all the way to the Roman bridge. All of a sudden you escape the buzz of the city and are immersed into the area of quiet mind dominated by the wild river, its roar and beautiful views around. There are two walks on each side of the river - this one being called The Winter one – because it is in the sun most of the time and protected from the wind. On the way you pass the Wandehalle – beautiful spa shelter with painters offering their work and lovely café to get snack once needed. I recommend to stretch the walk all the way up to the Gilfpromenade – there is a spectacular garden there and a bridge where one can get to the other side of the river and walk down back to the centre.

Convenient connection to much of the city
May 2018 • Couples
This was a walk we took twice a day - once with intent for a long walk and another for just going somewhere. So convenient. A variety of displays provided seasonally. Definitely wear comfortable shoes. Bikes also available.

Gorgeous walk
Jun 2018 • Solo
Really beautiful riverside walk with ever-changing vistas. I thought it was much prettier than the Summer Promenade on the other side which had hardly any views. Also the best ice cream in Merano is on this side!

Not only a winter walk.
Jul 2017 • Couples
Along the river, first through the covered area and then through nicely planted areas beside the river. It passes a copuple of bridges so you can cross to the park on the other side. Very pleasant in the hot sun.

Beautiful walk along the River
Apr 2017 • Couples
We visited in April and were expecting cool weather...it ended up being a remarkable Spring day and perfect for this scenic walk. It runs through the end of town along the river and well tended but natural gardens. The whole loop takes just over an hour if you don't count the stop for a lovely coffee and creme croissant!

wonderful walk
Dec 2016 • Solo
a truly amazing walk beside the river, particularly good for photography, the colours and textures in winter or summer . lots of places to stop , sit and take in your surroundings and couple of cafes for a refreshment as well en route. not the warmest place in winter, but very invigorating none the least, and eventually brings you into Merano town.

Excellent ambeince
Aug 2016 • Couples
This is the warmest spot in Merano and so would be an ideal walk in all seasons. Along the way there are places to sit, eat or dine. You can watch the fast flowing waters spill by or people watch from a bench or from a café with an apreol spritz! Follow the promenade to the end where you will see churches and statues. There are links to the old town and the rail station. Beautiful trees and flowers along the way; enjoy the perfume of nature.
