A beautiful square, especially on a sunny day. It's the main square in Bolzano, and you will pass from here if you are visiting the city. From this square you have good views on Bolzano Cathedral, the Alps and Walther von der Vogelweide's monument.
At Christmas time you can find a very famous Christmas market here.

This is the central piazza of Bolzano, but it isn't much of an attraction in itself. Bolzano is a unique Italian city that seems more like Austria than Italy. It's easy to walk everywhere and very pedestrian friendly.

Walther von der Vogelweide (c. 1170 – c. 1230) was a Minnesänger who composed and performed love-songs and political songs ("Sprüche") in Middle High German. Piazza Walther is quite big and wide. It’s an open square with the statue of Walther in the middle of it that seems to be a popular meeting spot.

This is a very nice place. The Bolzano city center with the wonderful Duomo. Must see. You can easily park your car in the carpark just below the square.

This Piazza is resemblance more of Austrian cities piazza than Italian cities piazza. The name of the Piazza have already showed the character. The buildings and church also of Baroque style, typical of Tyrol region.
Since this Piazza is named after Walther, the statue of Walther von der Vogelweide is erected in the middle of the square. Surrounding the Piazza is hotel, cafes, shops and church across the square.
The Piazza Walther is the ideal starting point for exploring Bolzano old town.

Main plaza In Balzano Bozen. Large fountain, catholic cathedral, restaurants and vendors. definitely stop to see the impressive catholic cathedral. There are several other cathedrals close to this one. Make sure to walk past all the street vendors and see Otzi the man discovered after 5000 years of being buried in ice! You can get the Balzano Bozen Card for free at your hotel to get into museums for free.

Visiting Bolzano nany times in summer, this was our firts vusit in December. What impressed us most about the Christmas Market was the abundance of handmade quality goods, much better than in many other countries. Friendly crowd and great live music. A must Christmas visit.

The piazza is one of the most spectacular places of South Tyrol. You can take a coffee, regarding all people visiting the place and remembering the impressives lyrics of Walther von der Vogelweide (12 century), e.c. "Ich saz uf eime steine" (YOUTUBE).

Great Open Piazza to grab a drink under the umbrellas and relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. The scenery is great in the valley of the alps however there is a lot of construction going on so a lot of tall scaffolding and machinery was impeding some of the views.
