Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike: a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It's a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Bozen/Bolzano to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano - they depart every 4 minutes, so there's practically no waiting time.

This is a good place for a family outing. There are great walks that are not steep for the not so young and for kids.

We recently took the Funivia Renon to Oberbozen, and from there, took the tram. There are numerous hiking opportunities of various lengths and difficulty. The views are extraordinary.

This is a great day trip to a somewhere, which in Summer, is cooler than the town of Bolzano. The price is reasonable and the cable car station is close to the main station.

I never took a cable car that was like a gondola before - this cable car has probably 8 cars which clip onto the cable so it's not just one up one down, but several on rotation. The cable car will whisk you up to...More

From Bolzano train station turn right and walk for about 7 minutes and you will see the Funivia Renon cable car station in front (glass building). I believe it is operates all year round. Check their website for prices.
