Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike: a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It's a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Bozen/Bolzano to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano - they depart every 4 minutes, so there's practically no waiting time.

Historically, people from Bolzano often escaped the summer heat of the valley by traveling up into the mountains that surround the city. It must have taken quite a while in the old days, because the elevation change is nearly 1000 meters (roughly 3000 feet). But...More

It can be quite scary for people nervous of heights, but offers gorgeous views of the city. The trip is longer than you might expect, and you do get used to the movement quickly!

If you go Bolzano I thinge you must go to SuperBolzano by Cable car and from the top, you can have a good view of Bolzano, the weather is clean and all the Greenland shining.

A good way to get up to Sopra Bolzano. Even in the rain. Do the train trip up there as well. The walks are longer than stated though.

We've now done alot of these cable-cars to high mountains throughout Europe. This is an excellent one because the equipment is very new in appearance. Plus, when you get to the end, there is a village to walk around eat, have coffee, etc. Also, it...More

From Bolzano train station turn right and walk for about 7 minutes and you will see the Funivia Renon cable car station in front (glass building). I believe it is operates all year round. Check their website for prices.
