Reinhold Messner is in my opinion the greatest mountain climber/explorer in history, so I really enjoyed walking through his home-turned-museum. All through the house, and sprinkled around the outside grounds, are items either given to him or collected by him from places all over the world. Photography was welcome throughout the museum when I was there a few years ago,... More

Take your time for this fantastic Museum! You will need about 4 hrs. to see and enjoy everything in this castle. Keep your eyes open from the very first beginning as you will find outdoor in the gardens lots of Buddha or other kind of Asian statues which Reinhold Messner brought with him from around the world. Entrance fee is... More

A fascinating experience for those interested in mountaineering--do a little internet research on Messner beforehand if you're not familiar with him. The museum presents interesting Sudtirol history, a diverse collection of sculpture in a wonderful setting, and an intriguing opportunity to see a minimally modified but carefully restored piece of architecture. The organization of the museum is a bit confusing,... More

This is one of my favorite places to visit. Take the tram to the top of the mountain and visit this great mountain top village with the Messner Mt. Museum. Great scenery, valleys and a super train ride to view all

I was very disappointed today because I was not able to get in to visit the castle. My husband and I weren't able to use our credit card to pay for the tickets and other than cash there was no other option for us. We were told the restaurant would accept credit card but for some reason we couldn't pay... More

We were in the tourist bureau in Bolzano to pick up some general information and were asked if we had visited the Messner Museum. If we hadn't, the bus was leaving in 10 minutes and for 2 euros you can ride up to the museum. The museum is in a ruined castle and tries to simulate a small mountain climb... More

Fantastic views abound from the Castle walls. The museum displays are varied, beautiful, and interesting with full explanations in Italian, German, and English. Climibing, religion, art, and nature are the focal points and executed almost flawlessly. The entire family loved this visit.

I am a big fan of Messner, whom I consider to be an amazing athlete, so this visit was special. I was surprised how diverse the exhibits were, some on the political history of the area. There was a lot of poetry, Buddhism and art mixed in with a little on mountaineering. That's fine, it's his expression and was presented... More

We got a ticket for the Bo-Bus for 2 Euros, and were able to tour around the city. We made a stop at the Messner Museum and toured the exhibits there. We found it to be very interesting and well worth the time it takes to go through. Allow a couple of hours. Unfortunately, we were there on a very... More

Reinhold Messner's Mountaun Museum is a wonder - magnificent collection of artifacts and art from his world wide travels, displayed in a reclaimed castle in a highly inventive and powerful way. The result is a mesmerizing and visually stunning experience. Highly recommend.
