Took the cablecar up from Bolzano to San Genesio. Then hit the trails around that place.. explored the woods and enjoyed the peace and quiet and birds chirping in the trees. A lovely tranquil place.. and coming across ponies and haflinger horses in the meadows was a lovely treat. Ideal for nature lovers.

Want a stroll through a scenic pasture? Can't beat this walk. Take the cable car up and hike up an hour to get to this amazing groomed pasture that goes on for miles. It's raked, fertilized, kept up better than most parks. A super day hike!

The salten is a high plateau about 1,200 m high. It's quite easily reachable, and when you are there, most paths are broad and flat. You see beautiful meadows, cows, horses and there are several places you can have lunch. You could take the funicular from Bozen/Bolzano up to Jenesien/S. Genesio (9 minutes drive) and walk vom Jenesien to the Salten (about 1 hour walk).

Got here by riding the cable car, connecting with the train then at the end of the line walked a short inclined road and rewarded with beautiful scene of quite village and the Dolomites in the distance.
