Visiting near Asti, my partner and I decided to visit the city as we had not been there yet. Curious to see some monument / historical place we asked the information point to help us: the girl at the stand showed us where to go to buy a card at the price of €10.00, which allows you to visit 7 sites, including the Crypt. My partner and I managed to visit Palazzo Mazzetti and the Crypt of Sant’Anastasio. Also this site, I particularly liked and I strongly Recommendation to buy the card and visit the places of interest in Asti.

Our visit was mid week early May, while we saw tourists in the town our visit to the crypts was solo. Not a single other person which we loved, but people you are missing out on a wonderful place. The building’s restoration was fantastic, the items on display from various churches, etc are wonderfully placed. And the crypt is so well preserved. Admission ticket can be purchased at Palazzo Mazzetti 357 just a few steps away. The ticket is good for over a dozen sites over a 6 day time span. Great value. We did 3 sites in 1 morning. 👏

The guided tour is a must as it gives much needed background info about the site and the museum. Illumination could be better. Some areas are still under restoration and exposed areas need a better maintenance. The visit is recommended as it gives a glimpse of Asti's history.

This is a must not miss. The crypt is quite outstanding. Very well preserved and so evocative of a long past age.

The crypt is now an interesting museum, which contains several artifacts dating from the roman and medieval eras found throughout the city. The crypt dating from the 11th century has some wonderfully decorated columns and sits at the exact location where it once stood, right under the church of Sant'Anastasio which was demolished in 1907. The woman that guided us throughout the small museum was really kind and informative and answered all our questions.

The Cripta (hidden in ancient Greek), is a suggestive remain of a Roman building. It is quite an experience to discover this old, buried part of the city. The people at the ticket office are not so well prepared to welcome turist, they speak very poor Englishand they are not super friendly. Yet, the Cripta is a MUST to see in Asti.

These are a small bit over rated I felt! The thought of it was absolutely incredible but there aren't many things there that would leave you jaw dropped! 7/10
