This is the small square between the 16 column Colonne di San Lorenzo and Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore. In the centre of the square is a statue of the Roman Emperor Constantine. There are bench seat to sit down on and relax.

With stunning architecture and tucked out of the tourist shuffle, this quiet square was a beautiful place for an afternoon drink. There is a lovely cafe in the centre of the square, and a few, like Cafe Zebedia, around the corner where you can sip an Aperol Spritz in some quiet.

...but it is a bit confusing. Technically all maps show the location of Piazza della Vetra as being behind the church, Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore.
It is a beat up park, where the kids play on the grass and the dogs and birds do their business.

This place is some kind of a park now. Many years ago there was an urban area with its own (often criminal) history.

The Roman columns opposite the church date from the Imperial era and were moved here from their former location. It's a nice stroll and a good place to hang out and people watch while you are taking a break from your walking tour. Good gelato nearby at Grom.
