a local community market with butchers, ham, cheese, groceries, cake shops..etc. prices are fair, but the market is not that big. u might want to head over for something u have in mind, but if making a visit just to see the market might not worth.

This small market is well off the tourist trail but is easily accessible from the Wagner metro-station and it is well worth the effort. Lots of different stalls selling a wide range of cheeses at very reasonable prices; good fish, fresh meat and charcuterie stalls - spoilt for choice. Fewer fruit and vegetable stalls than in most Italian markets but the range of other produce more than made up for that. If you are self-catering in Milan and want to eat the way the Milanese do then head for this market first and stock up on all there is to offer.

If you want to buy meat products in Milan, this is it.... this is the place to go. Mercato Comunale Wagner is a small community market close to the Wagner subway station. It's not fancy to look at and many would probably walk by without going inside. They have a lot of small shops inside, most selling ham, sausages, salumi, a few cheese shops a few fish shops fruit, vegetables and one store selling pet food and other pet needs. I found two shops I really liked. One shop at the end where I picked up some of the best Lardo di Colonatta that I've had. I also bought some Guanciale and some Cinghiale salumi (wild boar). There was one really nice cheese shop where I bought lovely Gorgonzola cremoso and some Taleggio. This market is a little gem in Milan. If you want meat and cheese go here not to some fancy market.

We visited this market and found lovely people. EXCEPT for one vegetable shop inside with the miserable men sold us bad produce. We questioned him but he said it was the same. It was not so be aware one person will rip you off.
