IN THE HEART OF OLD MILAN Terrazza Aperol sits between past and future, tradition and modernity, in the huge Autogrill Duomo Store multi-concept centre in Milan, on the original site of Caffè Motta (Milan, 1928). The first Caffè Bar Motta, in Galleria Carlo Alberto, was designed by the architect Melchiorre Bega. Its interior design blending Italian tradition with the innovations of futurism helped define the identity of the typical "Italian bar" known all over the world. For three generations, Caffè Motta was a meeting point for the Milanese, a place where the urban trajectories of the bourgeoisie intersected those of the city's students, intellectuals and artists. v

We went for a quick lunch. The location is great overlooking the duomo. The menu was decent full of local favorites and the Milanese Risotto was really good. The service sucked.... I don't know what else to say about it, it seemed like a real effort to get a table even though the place was only half full. The waitress... More

The only good thing about Terazza Aperol is the view. The service was horrible! We staff at the reception/entrance were more interested in gossiping than servicing their customers. One female bartender looked like she hated her job and had a lot of attitude. Don't go here. Enjoy the view from somewhere else.

The view of the Milan cathedral is wonderful! Best for sunset or happy hour. Menu offers good food such as egg plant and pasta but the highlight are the drinks. Beautiful decoration and definitely a place to hang out if you a tourist in Milan. Service is terrible... You need patience.

This place is in the perfect location being right across from the Duomo At sunset it is tourist heaven for the perfect photo, which is why I was sooo surprised at the service. The initial host didnt even seat us, he pointed to a table and said go. The waitress didnt come to take our order until almost 20 minutes... More

Our relative took us here. I am so glad he did. What a stunning view. I could have stayed for hours just looking at the church. The terrace bar was crowded and buzzing with people of all ages. We managed to get a seat out on the balcony. Get there early before workers start to crowd in. Love Aperol Spritz... More

Very pedestrian experience - sure the view of the Duomo is absolutely amazing, and the service is quite quick (no focus on interaction in this table turning environment), but something special or interesting it is not. Best to recognize it for what truly is, a great photo op. Imposing cathedral in the background, aperol spritz in hand = ultimate tourist... More

Lovely location but my, was the manager doing people a favour letting them in. He couldn't have cared less! Our waitress was more attentive. The second drinks are cheaper than the first but came without napkins and crisps. The promised chips and tapas with all drinks was an overstatement! But, lovely place for a drink!

When I visited Milan, I ended up spending 3-4 hours here for two days we loved it so much! Sat on the terrace, in the sun, sipping on cocktails and choosing from a beautiful selection of options on the food menu! Would highly recommend to anyone!

The terrace is really beautiful and offers magnificent views of the duomo (not the square though as the seats are too low). The many different aperol drinks make choosing difficult. Unfortunately the staff got out of bed on the wrong side, they were not very friendly. Still, if you like aperol, pay them a visit.

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighborhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
