Beautiful historic and popular neighborhood of old Milan, centered on the street that bears its name, full of monuments, large and small attractions, characteristic bars, murals... It was once also one of the centers of the city's underworld, the so-called "ligera" .
At the end of the street, on the corner with Piazza XXIV Maggio, there is a nice rebus-type road sign.
In short, an area of Milan not to be missed!

In recent days and again this morning I walked for a long time in the Ticinese neighbourhood, of which I capture the best aspects each time (at least for me), very characteristic and rich in history, often surprising. There is no shortage of picturesque corners, noteworthy buildings, ancient and precious basilicas such as Sant'Eustorgio and San Lorenzo Maggiore. Not to mention the evocative environment around the Navigli.

During the summer months and in recent days I have often come to the Ticinese district, from the characteristic Navigli area to the no less evocative one which is clustered between the basilicas of San Lorenzo and Sant'Eustorgio.
Yesterday again I admired certain picturesque views, underlined by clear and peremptory cuts of light, as if to bring to mind a Milan that no longer exists.
A popular and ancient place that tries to resist as best it can the invasion of not only noisy masses.
The evaluation naturally refers to the neighborhood during the daytime, given that at nightfall, with the so-called nightlife, it is completely transformed, and we know well how.

Yesterday I took a walk through this beautiful historic and popular district of old Milan, whose main axis is the course that bears its name.
It's a neighborhood full of monuments, attractions large and small and characteristic clubs.
Between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it was one of the centers of the Milanese underworld, the so-called "ligera"; now it is one of the main areas of nightlife.
Nice, at one of the entrances of the course, on the corner with Piazza XXIV Maggio, the road plate type rebus, unfortunately almost illegible.
It is entirely crossed by tram number 3 that starts from the Duomo and continues to the extreme outskirts.
Definitely an area of Milan not to be missed!

The area contains one of the city gates of Milan, it has historical columns, churches and museums.

It also leads to the lively Navigli area and its nightlife by the canal.

We found this was a nice area to explore at night and at the weekend.

It is another gate different from the prominent one “Arco di Porta Ticinese” and looks older by its walls’ bricks and columns.

In recent months and again yesterday morning I wandered in the Ticinese district, particularly in the Navigli area, very dear to me and always generous with fascinating and often mysterious views. Of course I did it in the quieter hours of the morning, when the neighborhood regains its most authentic and attractive appearance, at least for those who sincerely seek its essence among hidden courtyards, railing houses and the placid flow of waters.
