This was really a fantastic tour and I’d definitely recommend it for anybody interested in visiting Como and Lugano. Our tour was conducted by a wonderfully talented and informed lady named Najma, who was friendly and helpful throughout.
We began in Milano and departed on a relatively short train journey to Como, during which we were introduced to Najma and the itinerary for the day was divulged.
Upon alighting the train we made a short walk into the first square of Como. The tour was conducted via a radio system and we were given information about the area and the history during the walk.
The walk around Como lasted around half an hour, during which we were shown around to some interesting areas with historical significance and were provided with facts and information about the area, highlighting their role in the history of Como.
We then traveled to the dock to board the boat, and this process was all very easy and swift which was pleasantly surprising based on how busy the area and the attraction seemed. The boat tour provided some fantastic views of Lake Como and we were given more interesting tidbits regarding the villas and the surrounding areas of the lake.
Upon completion of the boat tour a meeting point was designated and we were granted some time to explore the area on our own, during which I had some lunch at a small restaurant and some ice cream.
After our free time was completed we made the short walk back to the train station and boarded a train to Lugano, which again was not too long. The views of the area from the train were beautifully scenic and were obviously even better after alighting. We descended from the train station and arrived in Lugano, at which point we were briefly shown around the area and pointed in the direction of some areas and activities in which we could spend our time.
We then partook in a chocolate tasting experience which was very lovely and were then granted around an hour in which to spend in the area, or we were offered the opportunity to stay later and make our own way back afterwards (we were told the processes and train times if we were to take this option).
The city was amazing and the views were absolutely stunning, and there were plenty of places to explore or shop. I opted to travel back on the first train, and this was very easy yet again with the help of the tour leader.
Overall I can’t speak highly enough of this tour, it was an amazing day, thoroughly enjoyable and highly engaging.
