Americans- This is NOT what you are looking for!!!
Listen, I get it. You're from North America and you want to go to Milan and get some cool Italian fashion. You dont want Prada, Gucci, Chanel, etc....you want some fresh stuff that you normally can't buy in America. So then you google 'Milan outlet fashion,' and you get Il Salvagente and they say that they are an outlet of Italian clothing. Mind you, I'm a guy, so I'm mainly reviewing the men's clothes. Everything that they have upstairs, I can buy at Macys, nordstrom, or TJ Maxx. The women's section had nice stuff, like Moschino and others at a good discount, but this place isn't exactly in the middle of downtown -it's a 10 minute bus ride, which is fine, but not worth the trip, imo. Assuming that you will be walking around the Duomo and Vittori Emmanuelle, you should look for 'outlets' and 'temporary stores' in that area. 2 places that I found were Highline and touch and Go. They had some super fashionable stuff that I got excited about. Bought 4 pairs of super stylish Italian made shoes for 30E each and spent 160E to FexEx them home lol. Nothing against Il Salvagente. It's just that I know why we come to Milan, and this really isn't that much of a destination as you might hope it would be.

Outlet was walking distance from my hotel (Hotel Ideale), about 10 minute walk. Found the outlet very easily. Nice selection of shoes, handbags and clothing. Did not see any Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Louis Vitton. OK selection of Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara, Armani, Liu Jo for women clothing. For shoes Tods, Jimmy Choo, Armani, Liu Jo and Tods. Found good price on shoes and clothing for women.

When we spent a month in Milan in 2007, we walked here almost every day and both returned with many new items for our wardrobes. So when we recently returned to Milan for a short family visit, this was top on our list of things to do. This time, my wife, the "fashionista", found nothing, but I scored with a pair of blue suede shoes, a one of a kind jacket and a beautiful bow tie. That's how it is here. The stock changes quickly and you never know what you'll find - but it's worth the effort because what they do stock, is unique and well priced. My wife and I have spent months in NYC, Paris and Milan while she (as a professor) studies fashion and I (as a professional photographer) take pictures in each city. This is the best outlet store we have been to - by far. A gem and one of a kind.

This outlet is located in a dirty courtyard and looks like a factory shop , far removed from glamour. A hand written cardboard sign is used to direct one to the premises. Seriously a business claiming to sell high end clothes albeit an outlet and this is how it is presented! The outlet boasts big names. The reality is that a single pair of size three Gucci shoes may be available. I noted one review which queried the possibility of second hand clothes. I would concur with this opinion. The scarves in particular showed clear signs of "balling" indicating wear. Todd's shoes were heavily soiled and in reality not fit for sale. Do not expect value as many price points are 1,000 euro . I suspect this is where the catwalk cast-off's and seconds are sent. The staff were rude, arrogant and unhelpful particularly the "so called" Manager!

Dear Mo-Pat_I While we cannot claim that everybody likes us and while we understand your disappointment at not having bought anything at our outlet, we cannot accept criticism based on facts which do not correspond to the truth. For 38 years we have been selling garments by major brands at the best price, and for this reason we are the best-known outlet in Milan, also recognized as such by foreign customers. Our prices are at least 60% lower than the original ones: you should have looked at our label and not at the label of the boutique that sold the item to us, which shows the original higher price. With the exception of fur, the garments exceeding € 1,000 are very few and with this amount we are often able to dress a whole family. All the items for sale bear their original labels and for this reason CANNOT BE USED GARMENTS NOR SAMPLES OR FASHION SHOW GARMENTS. Our premises are situated in a courtyard of an elegant building in Milan, which cannot certainly be described as 'dirty'.Our business is to sell quality clothes at great prices and this is what matters. My name is Riccardo, I am the "so called" Manager and I am absolutely sure that I have never had the chance to meet you, as I am also sure that my staff are not rude or arrogant because education and politeness are our first rule. Should you come back to Milan, we will be pleased to meet you and maybe you will even manage to make a great purchase.

Agree with previous post.
Not worth the hassle to get there!
Walked past it before realising it was more than a small store

Not what US visitors (or Aussie)
Would call an outlet.

Dear Terry-neuralBay, Indeed, there seems to be a general misconception that every outlet store needs to have the identical format of that of a traditional American outlet. Unfortunately, it is simply unrealistic to build enormities within the confines of such historic cities. A two-story commercial space is rare enough as it is for a family owned business in Milan and one which holds over 500 000 seasonally items is even less likely. We are sorry you found the 15 minute bus ride at an inconvenience as most of our customers appreciate not having to commit themselves to a full daytrip outside of the city to get to the outlet malls. We wish you better luck with your future shopping experiences. Sincerely. Il Salvagente

I visited this so-called fashion outlet based on the recommendations on the internet sites. My experience was disappointing! Wè could hardly found the address. It is not easily accessible for foreign tourist as it is not very centrally located. Even the local people do not know that there is a fashion outlet in their neighbourhood since it is located (hidden!) in the inner courtyard of an apartment block. Thé prices are too high to buy something. Do not waste your time for getting there!. Instead, I recommend you Mathia's Outlet where you can find some fashion outlets with affordable prices and it is centrally located.

Dear Veli O. We strongly doubt that you have in fact visited our store as your comments simply do not coincide with the truth. Perhaps you are confusing us with another outlet in the city. We have never had complaints from our clients about getting to our location which, found at 16 Via Bronzetti, is marked with a well lit sign day and night and has its main entrance directly under the sign, through a well lit passage that leads directly into the store. With over 35 years of successful business and loyal customers, we highly doubt that our well-informed and intelligent neighbours are unaware of who we are and what we do. Our business occupies almost the entire building in which it is situated, with 3 full floors visible from the courtyard and with windows facing our public street for perfectly clear views into the store. The entrance is on the inside of the courtyard, which has always been clearly indicated by every travel guide in which we are associated. Our discounts are and have always been in proportion to the original retail price of each individual article, hence why our customers will always find the original retail prices of our direct suppliers on each product, allowing them to compare for themselves. We are very secure in our pricing as we have no doubt that we offer the lowest prices within our city for the merchandise that we stock; this has always been our business model and therefore our strength. Not to mention, you have also claimed to have visited our store during the month of July where it is very well known amongst our clients both foreign and domestic, that we participate very strongly in the city’s traditional sales period. If this seems like an exaggeration in your opinion, we find it hard to believe that you can find satisfaction in just about any commercial market where more times than not, products are marked significantly higher than what our customers find in our store. In regards to the positioning of our store which is indeed semi-central, obviously it was not possible to place ourselves directly at the sides of other commercial stores in the city, however, we are still very easily accessible from the city’s historic centre, the airport and connecting regional trains and we are certainly far more accessible and easier to visit in respects to outlets outside of the city.

This is not anything like an "outlet" shopping experience if you're an American accustomed to a large series of manufacturer shops. Instead, it is like a condominium with a few rooms filled with racks of clothes. Do not be deceived into thinking there is a Dolce e Gabana store, or a Fendi store, etc. There are no stores, just a pretty small shop with racks of clothes. We walked in and out in 60 seconds upon realizing that this is not what it's website and other reviews here seem to think qualifies as an "outlet". If you want a true "outlet" experience, try the Mantova Fashion District Outlets south of Verona, or the other large (100+ stores) outlet near Breschia. Just don't think that this is an "outlet" like the Jackson Outlets in NJ, the outlet stores of the NJ Turnpike in northern NJ, etc.

Dear Chris F, We are sorry you feel ‘fooled’ as that is never our intention and certainly hasn’t been the secret to almost 40 years of success. As you seem to be the second to make this comment recently, we will repeat our sentiments. Indeed, there seems to be a general misconception that every outlet store needs to have the identical format of that of a traditional American outlet. Unfortunately, it is simply unrealistic to build similar enormities within the confines of such historic cities. A two-story commercial space is rare enough as it is for a family owned business in Milan and one which holds over 500 000 seasonally items is even less likely. Comparing a traditional American Outlet (especially one found in a large suburban area) to that of an Italian outlet found within the walls of historic Milan is unfair. By commercial definition, we are an ‘outlet’, by American standards we are a multi-brand clothing/variety store, but as we are in Italy, we use the commercial category best agreed on by our national commerce. By the way, we are not an Outlet Mall, but a store as is clearly written on our websites and in any guidebook in which we are present. The outlet malls are outside of Milan (such as Mantova) and require an organized bus trip (if you are without your own transportation) to get there. As for our brands, unfortunately, you also seem to have walked by an entire area dedicated to high-end brands such as Dolce & Gabbana et al. in the short amount of time you we in our store. Our long-standing history and repeat cliental would prove otherwise on our lack of designer labels in store. 60 seconds is hardly a sufficient amount of time to give an educated review on a store with our history and surly undeserving of such an unjust ranking. We wish better luck in your future shopping experiences. Sincerely, Il Salvagente

This shop is my favourite one in the city: thanks to my sister, I know it since 2005 when I started to live in Milan and now, that I live in Moscow, each time that I come back I have to go!!
There are each day new arrivals and the staff is very helpful, available and very friendly, I know everyone.
You can find bags, shoes, coats, furs, pants, jackets, cachemire and many accessories like belts, gloves, hats, sunglasses of the main brands: Blumarine, Pucci, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Gucci, Burberry, Alberta Ferretti, Iceberg, Fendi, Hunter, Santoni, Dolce & Gabbana, and many others
In my last visit I bought one pair of shoes of Isabelle Marant at around 1/3 of the real price in the magazine, one gilet of furs of Iceberg, one bag of Villador, one pairs of twins Fendi for my husband, one belt of Marnie, and many other thinks. In addition they used to make the tax free for who, like me, has the residence abroad.
In the ground there are the main brands, with the clothes, the bags, the scarves for women and the shoes for women and man. In the first floor there is the man division, with a large chosen of costumes, coats, shirts, sweather and other accessories, like socks, bags, ties, and one other division for women with clothes, jacket suites, …

It’s clear that you have to be lucky with the size, as it’s an outlet there is not the chosen of a normal shop and you can find 1 or 2 size of the same article.
In addition, during the solde period the chosen is limited, but it’s happen everywhere.
When you go, you can subscribe to the mailing list and you’ll receive by mail many interesting information: the extraordinary opening day (often on Sunday), the info on the new arrivals seasonal, special discount days,….
Now there is also the online shop, other good opportunity for who has no time to go
I highly recommend everyone to go.

A special thanks to Riccardo for his warmth and friendliness demonstrated in these years

This was my worst shopping experience and selection ever in Milan. Not only was the assortment poor, there were lots of rubbish brands in the store. For example, a 'US Polo Association' sweater is priced at 100 Euros when I can easily find this for $10-15 elsewhere in Asia.

Lots of brands (80%) that I have never heard of and for the remaining 20%, they are not of any good quality and some of them are even worn out (makes me suspect that they do take in second hand merchandise and pass it off as outlet items).

Highly disappointed.

I visited here after research. I found it to be organised and thoughtfully laid out. Even though there were designers that weren't familiar to me the prices still seemed very expensive.
On my walk to here, I stumbled on a market (it was a Thursday just by the Corso Concordia I think). I got some great bargains got to feel the buzz of a real Italian market, somewhere without lots of other tourists. I found this worth spending more time over than the place of intended to visit.

This place is depressing. It looks like a second hand store! Please do not waste your time. I strongly recommend the Rinascente mall, close to the Dome, for a great shopping experience.
