The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
How to get there
  • Duomo • 3 min walk
  • Cordusio • 4 min walk

We stopped by the Prada store when we were visiting Milan, mostly because my friend loves anything Prada. I could care less. However, everything was beautifully displayed and it was clear that the items had been creatively designed and were of high quality. Check it out if you are at all interested in Italian fashion!

On the way back from skiing we stayed few hours in Milan and went to see Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele shopping area. All of us, my kids, my husband and myself were in ski jackets and shoes, with big rucksack, not feeling very flattering in the middle of fashion town :) My daughter wanted to see first only few bags in Prada windows shop because to be honest, we are not type of customers for this shop, but then two of us decided to go inside. Suddenly, smiles and welcomes from one by one shop employee made us to feel much better. We did browsing and when we wanted to leave the shop, again some nice shop employee told me that there is one level below with shoes and clothes and that we should go and see. My husband and son joined us and four of us went one level down, surrounded only with smiles and welcoming faces. They knew we won't buy anything, we knew as well, but it was such a pleasure to be in that shop. So for this I have to share my experience with you.

We purchased five bags a day before, and used one next day. Staff presumed we took it from the shop. She follow us up the stair, and pointed to my bag, and said I taking their bag. I told her we brought it yesterday and open the bag to let her see my belonging. She very rude to say " a lot of people take the bag out of the shop". No apologies for what's she said to customer. I m so angry , Prada shop have this type of rude staff!!!!!

This is about the Prada store at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milano. I purchased sunglasses for 210 euro and gave the sales person a 200 euro note and a 10 euro note both of which I had withdrawn from the bank and was a fresh, crisp note. She took it with her to the back room for billing and came back after a few minutes saying that the machine was unable to read the note and hence wasn't accepting it so could I pay by card or with another note. At the time because we were rushed and in a hurry I didn't take time to look at the 200 euro note she handed me back. On reaching my hotel I saw that the currency note she had returned to me was old and in fact torn! I checked my records and the serial number on the note did not match the one I had written down in my records- since I am a tourist I keep a tab on all currency I carry with me. There was no point in returning to the store and questioning the sales person as it was simply going to turn into an argument. But this was an important lesson learned- always check the money you're given back before you leave the store whether it's the dollar store or the prada store! I was leaving the EU the next day and we had to go through a lot of trouble to get the damaged currency note changed!

Let me preface this with- I’m a huge Prada shopper (mostly clothes and coats) and savvy about most honest boutiques. There are many Prada shops in Milano- at least four that I tried to shop at. This trip I also shopped at Prada Serravalle, Prada The Mall, and the flagship- Prada Montevarchi. I have reviewed each separately.

Milano was my first stop. This is one of their stores on Via Montenapoleone. It didn’t matter that I was in head- to-toe Prada (it’s subtle after all) it was SO difficult to get help. After I tried on shoes (and bought all of them), I went downstairs for accessories. I bought accessories as wellI was in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes. Here’s the kicker- I asked to pay in Euro. I signed the slip and didn’t check (because you assume shops are honest- DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE) but was charged in USD, a $120 USD overage when doing the conversion. Needless to say, in addition to the relatively poor experience, being upcharged wasn’t good. Final nail in the coffin- Catherine refunded my VAT in Euros, the LOWER amount, not commensurate with the USD, effectively lowering my VAT to under 6% (about half). Watch out!

I love designer brands and walked in to purchase a $3000 AUD handbag and because the staff were rude and ignorant I walked out. Ended up walking in to Chanel, Louis Vouitton and Moschino and had amazing service and bought some lovely items. My husband and I walked both levels of the Prada store and were ignored, even when I asked for assistance... was told "go look for it on that wall". Sad.

While we were staying overnight in Milan from our Buenos Aires connection we have visited some places to kill some time and Prada was one of them.
I am not a great fun of this brand but my friends are, so visited inside. They did many shopping and said that the prices are better than other cities in Europe which is normal for me as Italy is the native place of this brand.
The shop is nicely planned & decorated and customer friendly, enough sitting around and the staff are friendly.

Just popped in to pick up something "small." Came out with my credit card in shock! Be prepared to drop some serious cash is you are in the mood to shop. However, I got two pairs of FANTASTICO shoes. A dream come true.

Upon entering the Prada store, the first thing that I notice is that it smells expensive A heady mix of leather and perfume; one has to go in. Don't worry about being caught up in the spirit of shopping; the price will sober you up. It is here where the men are separated from the boys financially. But it is free to look.
