The area

Neighborhood: Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

This is a short but very lovely bridge across a pond. From it, one can have a good view of the romantic pond with pretty ducks swimming, & the beautiful trees enclosing it. I come during clear weather, hence a number of people are queueing to take photos at this picturesque scene.

Such a pretty little bridge, decorated with mermaids. Kids will love the mermaids and it is a lovely spot for a photo. It’s only small but it is worth finding.
You might have to keep an eye out for it, as it is tucked away behind leafy branches in the middle of Sempione Park.
The mermaids are apparently Melusine mermaids, fresh-water spirits with a double tail who, among other things, make people fall in love.
If they look familiar, that’s because they are the same ones as the the Starbucks mermaid.
There are many other points of interest in Sempione Park, including Napoleon’s triumphal arch, statues, big open grassy areas, a large man-made lake, beautiful planted gardens and the Triennale Tower viewing platform. Entry to the park is free (there is a fee for the tower).

This is a little bridge situated in the Parco Sempione. It is very pretty and decorated with 4 mermaids , two at each end.
It is very romantic and makes a nice photo opportunity. We visited in January but I suspect that it would be even nicer in the spring and summer months

The oldest metal bridge in Italy was designed in 1842 by the architect Francesco Tettamanti originally stood near the street of San Damiano. It was relocated in 1930 when the canals in Navigli area were covered. The name comes from the statues of four mermaids that each hold an oar between their hands.
