I came to Mantua in the footsteps of Pope Saint Pius X (who was bishop here) but enjoyed visiting other attractions. Many know of Mantua after Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, but few remember it is also the town of Verdi’s Rogoletto! Rigoletto’s House is now the local tourist office, but well worth a short visit while you are in Mantua. At the entrance is a nice little walled garden with the statue of Rigoletto himself to welcome you.

The story about the censors and Rigoletto is well known. The French story had to be moved to the Court of Mantua and no King’s life was in jeopardy just that of a Mantuan Duke. Whether Rigoletto had this house or lived in the huge Palace may not be certain. Not a top attraction but very near the Ducal Palace.

This place hosts art shows throughout the year. There is a nice statue at the entrance but the rest of the house is just walls and lovely beamed roof. NOthing else. However, it is free

So renamed on the occasion of the premiere of Verdi's Rigoletto in 1851, it was the home of Canons and ecclesiastical people. The structure has evolved over time, starting from a base dating back to medieval times up to the renovations and alterations of the 15th century. Outside there is a statue portraying the jester as an eternal memory of Verdi's echoes. Inside, however, it is often the host of small exhibitions of dubious taste.
Today it is home to an information point for the city, which is accessed through a small external porticoed courtyard.
Modest attraction overlooking the Doge's Palace.

There is the house, on the corner of Piazza Sordello, you see it when leaving Palazzo Ducale and it makes you want to go there.

There is a statue of Rigoletto in the garden.

There is an exhibition that has nothing to do with Verdi's jester.

There is nothing else except an info point.

Negligible.
