This is certainly one of the biggest churches i visited. It is a "must see" in Mantova. Great architecture and really awesome paintings that look like they're sculptures carved in the walls. Really impressive

One of the must-see buildings in Mantova. Be aware that photography is not allowed inside the basilica. In the center is the famous vial buried (won't spoil it for you with info) A must see, and take your time to view the paintings. Breathtaking.

It's the most beautyful basilica I've ever seen. Fantastic frescoes on the walls looking sometimes like 3D sculptures, all the interior of the basilica is overwhelming. It's absolutely to be visited if you're in the area or it's even worth a trip for it.

If you do nothing else in Mantova, come here. It's such a special place. The architecture will take your breath away. And it's free.

We visited Mantua on our 9 day tour of Italy. What makes this church different that all the rest we visited on our tour (including St. Peter's Basilica in Rome) is that the walls are painted not carved. It is simply stunning. You will be fooled into thinking there are frames, carvings, and plaster casts covering the ceiling and walls,... More

They started to built this beautiful renaissance basilica in 15 th centuary and was finished 300 years later. This is a pilgrimage place. The sacred vessels contain the relic of Holly Blood of Christ.

Now there is a word I do not use often. Once inside I emitted a "wow". This is a beautiful church, superb architecture, frescoes and paintings. It is well worth a visit. The external façade is also impressive. You have to visit to understand.

A very beautiful church in the heart of Mantua. The walls are covered in frescoes and paintings and the whole effect is simply dazzling.

Must see basilica in this lovely city, in the center of Manova's pedestrian zone, just off busy Piazza delle Erbe.

How could anybody dare to review Leon Battista Alberti's Renaissance architecture masterpiece? In my humble opinion this is just the most beautiful church on earth. The façade classical decoration has been highlighted by the recent restoration and the inside... the inside is sheer poetry. One of the few buildings (religious or secular) in which you will feel completely free and... More
