About
Alpyland is located at the peak of Mottarone and consists of a 1.200 meters long rail track, which boasts a 360 ° view of Alps, the surrounding lands and seven lakes. Similar to a roller coaster, the run develops with curves, bumps, changes of slope and a height difference of 100 meters. The two-seat bobsleighs are equipped with a manual braking system which the passenger can use to adjust the speed to his liking and a selective braking system that slows down all bobs at the end of the descent. Open both in summer and winter, Alpyland is fun for everyone, at any age!

This was our 2nd visit to Alpyland. They have made many improvements since we were last here. You now take a lift to the top instead of getting on at the bottom and riding the car up. There is a nice building for drinks at the top- the views were amazing! The day we were there we were literally in the clouds. This is a nice adventure for the group after lots of sight seeing across Europe. Highly recommend.

This is at the top of Mottarone. It does need some common sense to make sure you do it safely, as there are no staff supervising you getting into the cars and they can go fast if you don't use the brakes very much. There are seatbelts and signs to slow down at the end and everyone was having a good time. If you have more than one go, you need to stay on the car to go back to the top. We got off and went back up on the chairlift, and were told that we were only allowed one free trip. Luckily he did let us on and we stayed on the car for the next one. Great views as well.

Fun and great - your own roller coaster - all ages.

Just watch for close off over lunch of 1 hour of alpine cable car. Means you may go have lunch at only ristorante up there - he has a captive audience and food really average and too much for what it is!

It's pretty lame.
The queuing system is idiotic - people that have already had a go get to jump the queue in front of people waiting for their first go... So you queue for hours for something that is just a rather mediocre roller-coaster. It isn't particularly long.
Yes the views are nice, but just go for a nice walk on the mountain, don't waste your time queuing for hours.....

The following day we took a cable car to Mottarone, which had a fine view of the Lago Maggiore, the Lago Orta, other surrounding lakes on all sides and all the way to the Po Valley. The summit was also equipped, rather irrelevantly, with a downhill bob-cart ride on rails. Young and old were ignoring the view and queueing for the costly privilege, and as we watched, an older couple crammed themselves into a single bob-cart and got going. I noticed that the man's foot was trailing outside the bob, and it became caught between the rail and the metal trestle on the first curve just as it was gaining speed. The man, obviously hurt, shouted repeatedly for help. A man, behind him in the queue, was first to react (there being no staff in attendance even though it was busy at the top) and, while perched precariously on the side trestle and a deep drop below, succeeded in hauling the cart back so that the man's leg could be freed. By this time a member of staff had arrived, sulky and obviously unwilling to get involved, and spent her time on the phone while other customers risked their safety as they extracted the man from the cart. The spontaneous and characteristic act of bravery also highlighted the lack of safety on the ride and the providential timing of the incident, which could have become a gruesome tragedy had it occurred just seconds later. This place should be shut down, It is dangerous to have staff who couldn't care less about safety and do not check the cars as they go through or give instructions to the people who want to enjoy this. It just needed someone who cared about people and they don't have anyone here who looks after the people young and old using this ridiculous and lethal "attraction"

I read a review about this before going to Italy and had it on the to-do list... I felt like the Grizzwalds looking for the fabled fun fair.. We drove from Lake Como without using toll roads and this took 3 1/2 rs.. next time toll roads... Finally managed to make the top of Mottarone and was told the ride was at the top of the hill .. So walked up a very steep goat track to the summit and didn't find it, so we walked back down and down a little road and found a chairlift. This takes you back to the top where we had just been ?? but just off down the far side is the entrance. One thing they didn't tell you... I took the chair ride up with the Slitvia ticket included. Upon presenting the ticket I was asked for another 1 euro??? I grumbled a lot to the guy and paid the extra.. Grr...why didn't they tell you this at the bottom?? The ride is about 1.2k long with a cart that has 2 stalk brakes for those hat like to slow down.. The ride descends the hill in a series of sweepers and turns and is over before you blink. You can get o at the bottom or take it back up to the top for the Chairlift back to the carpark,.
For such a long wait it ws over very shortly... but is reasonably priced @ 5euro a ride....
The drive from Stresa takes about 45min and you have to pay park entry fee of about 6 euro..

If you wish to go here a couple of tips..
1 take the cablecar from Stresa direct to the summit.
2 if you walk to the top the Slitvia is on the South side.
3 Have more than one ride. first one to get the feel 2nd etc to really let go :)...

Enjoy and to finish a good day drive/ride on to Lake Orta for dinner.. I will review this elsewhere... cheers Alpal

If you like a good laugh and a thrill and even Adrenalin you have to try this but first you need to ascend to the top of the mountain our choice was via cable car then chair lift to the top where you can then climb aboard the Alpyland toboggan run

Most of the flowers were dead by July. The views were good.
It is quite a walk from the cable car on hot days.

Alpyland is a grand title for one ride. The ride is a dry bobsleigh of about 1.2 km in length and can reach speeds of 40km/h - fantastic ride. The Alpyland name implies something with much more than one ride which is why i have marked it as poor

For 5 euros a person this is an absolute bargain - a roller coaster in the Alps - where you can control the speed yourself (good for young chidren) - and roller coaster around amazing scenery!. You can do in pairs or alone. We did it 3 times in a row. Great fun!
