This was an unexpected pleasure. Yes more of a demonstration but we did get to make tortellinis and Chef was masterful to watch and listen to. They pick you up, take extraordinary care of you and you dine on a feast! Must do when in the area and you meet some very fun people too!

While there is some participation this is mostly a cooking demonstration. I booked this class for myself, my husband and my almost 6 year old. The Chef picked us up and dropped us off at the Ferry station in Varenna and took us to his village above Varenna. The village is over 1000 years old and has a population of... More

Took a cooking class. Chef Moreno was delightful, food was excellent. More of a cooking demonstration but was very enjoyable. We did get to try our hand at making tortellini and we got to eat all the food. Will try the restaurant one of these days.

We had such a wonderful time with Moreno. He picked us up from the ferry stop and drove us to his lovely village where his restaurant is. He proceeded to show us how he makes ricotta stuffed tortelloni and veal loin, with a few tips and tricks along the way. The food is fantastic, as is the generous amounts of... More

Chef Moreno is delightful, insightful, entertaining, and a very skilled chef! The family-run restaurant and cooking class was not only educational, but very fun. Chef Moreno takes care of everything - picking you up/dropping you off or coordinating a taxi for pick-up/drop off. The family takes great care of you - offering coffee/tea upon arrival and a great Italian snack... More

We stayed an extra day in Varenna so that we could enjoy this class, and we weren't disappointed. It was a large group class, but fascinating...he teaches himself as much as he teaches the culinary arts. Due to the size of the group our ability to do hands on cooking were minimal (we got to shape the tortelloni), but we... More

Reposting to eliminate a bad typo which made it appear that we would not recommend this activity. We can recommend the cookery class at Il Caminetto with Chef Moreno. We were picked up at the ferry dock by his wife Rosella and met a great group of people for the class. We covered the globe with travelers from Australia, Singapore,... More

Chef Moreno's restaurant is situated in a small, quaint hilltop town outside of Varenna. He picked us up at the ferry dock, and drove a van full to meet others at the restaurant. Chef Moreno immediately made us feel and act as one big family. As he taught us how to make ravioli, veal loin, and exquisite risotto, he was... More

I am a decent home cook, who took this course with my husband, who cooks nothing. We both had a great time and learned a lot from Chef Moreno. Moreno is fastidious in his teaching, particularly about kitchen cleanliness. In addition, Moreno made the course very entertaining, with a humor that is worthy of its own television cooking show. Moreno... More

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Lake Como. Chef Moreno is charming and you learn a lot more than just the actual recipes being prepared that day. Lots of interesting tips. You will leave STUFFED with great food and with a little printed recipe book from the class. He drove us over to Castle Vezi after... More
