My expectations were substantially exceeded by the owner/chef/instructor as he put our group of 12 thru a culinary exploration of the Italian approach to cooking. He was meticulous in explaining and demonstrating his approach to preparing each of the ingredients. This lasted for over 4 hours of gastronomical delight with smells and tastes that were spectacular. What a wonderful way... More

To start Moreno and his daughter are extremely accommodating. They drive you to and from the restaurant. Moreno is super funny (lots of jokes), nice and provides a lot of great tips and information about Italian cooking. You don't cook much yourself, but Moreno demonstrates and explains each step and makes the class enjoyable, so you will not be bored.... More

Chef Moreno is a talented cook, producing wonderful traditional dishes of his region. A day spent at his restaurant is a great way to learn about food and culture. The drive up to the restaurant is pretty much worth the 60 euros, as Moreno negotiates hairpin bends which give amazing views of the lake far below, until you reach his... More

Chef Moreno was a great host. He was very welcoming and personable from when he picked us up at the ferry until he dropped us back. Thoroughly enjoyed learning new techniques from the master himself plus great food and wine. The whole experience was entertaining.

This is the second time I have taken the class. The first time I went with my daughter 5 years ago and we learned a lot about Italian cooking and eating. I took my husband this time and we had a great meal (with plenty of wine) in a convivial atmosphere with other like minded tourists who laughed, relaxed and... More

The cooking class is both educational and entertaining. Chef Moreno is a great teacher, and clearly a smart, hard-working guy. We learned how to make tortellini, as well as a chicken and a potato dish. The style is rustic, and easily adapted to home cooking. The food was excellent, and Chef Moreno was generous with portions, as well as drinks.... More

This is a wonderful experience! Moreno is very personable and a great chef. We were treated to 5 hours of fascinating cooking techniques for fresh pasta and more, plus great food and wine. Do this!

My husband and I were picked up from the ferry and taken to the restaurant in a small village to join a group of 15 for a fun filled day of learning how to make pasta and preparing roast veal and risotto. Menu was prepared around attendees' food preferences. More a demonstration but we did get hands on experience making... More

This was an unexpected pleasure. Yes more of a demonstration but we did get to make tortellinis and Chef was masterful to watch and listen to. They pick you up, take extraordinary care of you and you dine on a feast! Must do when in the area and you meet some very fun people too!

While there is some participation this is mostly a cooking demonstration. I booked this class for myself, my husband and my almost 6 year old. The Chef picked us up and dropped us off at the Ferry station in Varenna and took us to his village above Varenna. The village is over 1000 years old and has a population of... More
