Torre Viscontea is all that remains from Lecco's dark ages fortress and city walls, it was bulit in 14th century by order of Visconti familly who ruled Milan county.
It is located in the city center on Via XX Settembre a few block away from Palazzo delle Paure but as the Tower stands in a corner of the street, one can pass by without even notice it.
Torre Viscontea is now a museum, it hosts temporary exhibitions, the admission is free, but do notice that during the whole month of August the Tower is closed.

It will be important but without any valorization.
The only visible evidence of the ancient fortress of the mighty castle that surrounded the village of Lecco.

I've visited this place because I was really interested in watching the temporary art exposition "HEARTH", by the artist Gianluca Chiodi. It's located in the heart of Lecco and the entrance is from the corner of the central square. I truly enjoyed the visit (guided by the artist himself) and I think that the architecture of the tower made the exposition even more magical.
