Whenever I am travelling I always make time to give thanks to those people who had the courage and bravery to stand up and fight for what they believed to be right and to make the world a better place for us all, this memorial is worth a few minutes of anyone's time.

A very simple and moving memorial, which deserves half an hour of anyone's time. Right on the lake front, and no charge.

Monumento a la Resistenza Europea is a monument, which remember the fight about fascism in Europe and obviously in Italy. It is located in the lakeside in Como, near Templo Voltiano. Here you can go up and see the monument and read some last words of people of different countries, which were shot by fascists. A place to not forget the past of Europe.

I was intrigued by the shape of this and then I read the plaques to discover it was a monument to the peoples of Europe who had faced occupation by the Nazis and transported to camps etc. It made very moving reading and I was so glad I stiopped to find out what it was about.

This is a monument to resistance fighters and others who were murdered in WW2. Personal last thoughts in script letters on bronze translated into several languages nearby. In addition there are staircases leading nowhere of which each step is steeper than the previous one. Take your kids and explain its meaning to them. Don't be ashamed if they catch you crying.

I probably wouldn't have seen this monument if it hadn't been for the fact that half of the promenade was closed along the water north and west of Como. You had to almost actually walk through the monument to get around the barricade set up.

The monument is modern and you may or may not like the interpretation of the art, however, you cannot fail to be moved by the reproductions of letters (translated into several languages) sent by the resistance fighters who were killed by the Nazis during WW2.

It seems just like every other memorial monument you've ever seen: but just wait to walk on those stairs...

Located in a green park by Lake Como. The stones here were brought from Nazi's concentration camps and from the city of Hiroshima- Japan. On the bronze parts of this monument, are written words of peoples from WWII.

This monumento reminds us of a sad part in Europe's history: In a pleasant setting we can read some quotes of people who died in world war two.
