A very prominent monument at the shore of Lake Como, honoring fallen soldiers. WWI era memorial. Short visit, but incorporated along with the walk of the promenade. Nice structure and beautiful view.

Odd looking ww1 monument. You’ll see it on passing but you’ll also spend more time translating the inscription that admiring a clunky piece of memorial architecture.

A very place and well worth incorporating into a city stroll. The whole town can be seen, in passing in under 2 hours. However if you really want to explore all the churches and pleasant squares leave a whole day.

A pleasant walk around the lake brought us to this beautiful monument located not far from the Como soccer stadium it rises up right next to the lake. This inspiring Monument draws visitors to it..

We walked up and all around the monument with many great views of the lake. A lecture was going on on the steps in a language we did not understand.

While this is a monument built in the 30's to commemorate the War dead, and is visible for miles, in our view it is pretty ugly and a bit of an eyesore. Also the walkways around the area are very unkempt and look awful...and disrespectful. Hopefully this will be rectified in the near future as it could look fantastic with a proper promenade.

A rather impressive monument located on the shores of Lake Como. Built in the 1930's and dedicated to soldiers of Como who died in World War 1. It is possible to visit the crypt and climb to the terrace

All war memorials are sacred places to be respected and revered. However The Monumento Ai Caduti is an inspirational piece of architectural statuary dedicated to those local people who fell in war in service of their country. A very fitting rememberance.
It is at the end of a picturesque walk from the Ferry Terminal and directly overlooks the lake with great views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

An monument with spectacular views. Como is truly a place that needs visiting, it is not the most touristic (on weekdays at least :-) ) but this adds to its charm as it is unspoilt by being too busy.

This monument - a war memorial for Como's citizens who died in the WWI - is a very tall double tower located on the lake head shore near Como's city centre, and as such it is visible and unmistakable from very far away northwards along the lake. It is a concrete structure enriched with huge block of stone from Carso (where the main Italian front line of WWI was). One can climb it by stairs and get a really amazing view of Como lake. The curiosity is that one of the fallen to whom it is dedicated, Antonio Sant'Elia, futurist architect, is also the one who designed the monument (as a lighthouse, actually) just before the war. His colleagues Prampolini and Terragni accomplished it about 20 years later with its new destination concept.
